chile miners rescue bbcnews24 or sky news

You have so made me laugh...but it so is being portrayed like this isn't it. Is this modern media at it's worst? Reducing serious real stories to soap operas and dramas. Matt Frei referred to his frustration that trials were still continuing earlier. Not impressed.

I just hope that the rescuers do the right thing, and don't feel pressured by the world's media.

Yes, it's usually the *bad* events that create this kind of scenario, with the whole world glued to the TV. It's really breathtaking and emotional to see a happy ending unfolding before our eyes like this.

I find it particularly moving when they give you a bit of background on each miner as they emerge. It's the little details that get me all choked up, like the fact that this guy likes building ships in bottles. It just makes me well up: the sheer ordinariness of these brave men who have become extraordinary through a twist of Fate that is no fault of their own. I admire them so much for their resilience and strength.:cry::cry:

That's really great. It seems funny to say I enjoyed it, but it was certainly uplifting, and something rare... it was genuinely good.

Hey, it's the Chilean national anthem! One of the great ones.

I've been watching since 5.00pm. Its absolutely fascinating stuff. Its amazing how quickly they're getting them to the surface now.

Just wondering now whether I stay until everyone is up (including the rescuers) or whether I go to bed once the miners have been rescued.

I'm definitely going to be up for the last one out. Hopefully everyone is going to be out and safe within 24 hours.

I've been so impressed with how this rescue mission has gone. The rescuers have been so professional and efficient.

Outrageous. I refuse to watch Sky...but their coverage doesn't surprise me. They are reducing a very serious, life threatening situation to a game show.

How would Burley do down there without her hairspray and nail filers?

Thank goodness it is all over and they are all out. The full recovery and adjustment now begins for all involved.

Well done Chile. The world salutes you! :)

Arrgh, just tuned back into the BBC News channel for an update and I wish someone would tell the presenters to just shut up instead... of... speaking... very... slowly... because... they... really... don't... have... anything... new... to... say... and... what... they... do... say... is... often... pretty... stupid.

Think I'm going to have to turn the sound off!

I'm liking the way they have ensured that each miner is treated as special as they resurface..each is given the same great reception. Wonderful. Just hope that by speeding up the rescue, thye are not compromising safety. Hope they also give the rescuers who went down voluntarily, a huge reception as well....very brave men!
