Brits Vs Yanks

^I totally agree with all of this.

So if they won the 50s because of jazz they can't win the 60s because of jazz? I don't understand the logic there.

Yeah and they always determine whcih genres are dying and then what band gets to "save it."

Its a bunch of ****, Rock and Roll never asked for you to be its savior, go away.

No thats what I came up with off the top of my head. But I'm sure theres a cultural divide. I mean a lot of what you guys like isn't that appealing to me.

Stone Roses
The Prodigy
Much of latter day Oasis
Keane
Whatever band did "cash machine"
Snow Patrol

I'm constantly met with brits here and else where who don't get Springsteen and Dave Matthews so its probably a culture thing but it is what it is. If music had a taste, most british music would have a tarty after-taste for me. Too much electronica fused in there, or sappy balladry that just doesn't fly.

Disclaimer: For christ sake this was off the cuff, if you're going to flip out and hold me to this for months, go F.

the problem is it would be impossible to draw the line at a point in which you can say theyre just as good, so you'd have to pick a side or just not discuss it, if you don't want to debate it then why even post in the first place? to irritate urban?

so whem americans write about the traditions and staples of their culture its in good taste... yet when british banRAB do it its a parody... how did you come up with that one? Alot of american music could be, as you say, a parody, Rap - biggest 'parody' in the book, country - ditto, a LOT of rock - again. Music is built upon the artists up-bringing, background, traditions and way of life, i think its what i love about english music.

I'm not too impressed with recent music but I find that most of the recent music I listen to is british. So as far as modern goes Brits win. IMO grunge>brit pop and the 90s is my favorite era of music so states when there. As far as the long run goes I think you can go tit for tat and both have awesome contributions that I don't the place to judge which is better.

America produces some great music. Britain produces some great music. But atm, for some reason, it seems to be cool to knock stateside stuff. Go figure...

I have and none of them are anything that I would go out of my way to declare that I am Canadian because of. Sorry, there is nothing here but a vapid wasteland of sub par music
