Blog Talkback: Toons of the 2000s: Top 25 Animated Television Series Countdown #5-1

Phineas and Pherb at 13 and Justice League at 17? give me a flippin break. The difference in quality in the two shows is astronomical in Justice League's favor. Also, this countdown seems to be way too anime centric, most of the good cartoons this decade aren't anime. I can understand certain ones, like FMA(which I haven't seen but have heard good things) and Avatar(not exactly anime, but similar imho), but not the enormous quantity on here. Judging by the list so far, two of the best shows of the 2000s, Batman Beyond and The Spectacular Spider-Man won't even make the list, which is a total joke. Ok, the rant is done.
 
Is this the best 25 catoons countdown based on one person's perspective?
If it is, Of course there are bound to be flaws in it. There is not a show in the world that is perfect, but we can try to come close. Everybody's opinions are different! :raven:

I'm trying to guess which shows will end up as the top 5, and who will take number 1 spot for the past decade.... :p
I hope Batman and Superman Animated Adventures, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Avatar among other best tv toons in DCAU, Disney, and Nicktoons will make the list! :cool:
 
Well you could have just given us the 'Best 100 Shows of the Decade' but in no particular order. Order seems to be the sticking point. Maybe put them in alphabetical order or some semi-random ones? Heck just keep the top 5 in a specific order.
 
Gundam 00-- I've heard good things about it.

Champloo-- Sounds interesting.

Phineas and Pherb-- I've seen some.

Invader Zim-- Looks silly

FMA-- Best show on todays list, IMO.

Please keep in mind that, even though my name is attached to this countdown, I didn't choose all the shows myself and that a bunch of other TZ staff contributed to it.

Of the 25 shows I only wrote about 10 or 11 myself, which was then edited and rewritten by others.

We tried to include all kinds of shows as possible, and rank them fairly depending on impact and popularity. It's not going to please everybody and we knew that.
 
Wow. Well, um...

First, Kim Possible shouldn't be that high, and the same goes for Foster's...

And although I love Avatar to death, I didn't expect it to be 1, maybe 5 or something...
 
Yeah...Avatar really doesn't deserve the top spot, and this is coming from an Avatar fan. The insipid and uninspired third season was such a step down in quality that I think it bars it from such a distinction. And where the blazes is Spectacular Spider-Man?
 
Gundam 00 - Never liked the Gundam franchise. Too big, too boring, and too pretentious.

Samurai Champloo - A nice, anime with an original style, but not what I put on the list.

Phineas and Ferb - I really wanted to hate this show when it first came out, but it's really one of the best shows Disney has aired in years.

Invader Zim - One of the most overrated shows of the decade. The annoying fanbase this show has totally kills any enjoyment I had about it.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Good show. Wouldn't put it so high, though.
 
Out of the last 10 shows listed the only one I've actually liked (or even bothered to watch) was South Park. I get the feeling not many of my favorites are going to end up on this list. It actually seems to cater more to the cult/anime/action fan than anyone else. Oh well...
 
Not a Gundam fan, but 00 has its vocal fanbase, so good for them.

Samuria Champloo is gold, definitely one of the best shows from Japan this decade. Good to see it appear on another Best of list.

Phineas and Ferb is okay from what I've seen, but better than Justice League, King of the Hill, and Chowder? Sorry, I totally disagree.

Invader Zim bores me. Guess it probably doesn't help that Dib's random humor makes me cringe because it inspired a surge of that on the internet.

Fullmetal Alchemist is another deserving show on this list. I've only seen a few episodes but it seems like a memorable experience and my sister's been trying to get me the entire season to watch. She loves this show.
 
That's not it at all. There were plenty of staff members that enjoyed TMNT during its run.

But I would also like to know the factors that prevented it from making this list.
 
I strongly disagree. Only four out of the fifteen cartoons listed so far are Japanese cartoons. Also, Avatar really, really is not anime.

Like you I do really like Batman Beyond and SSM, though.
