if you are on the street and 4 people surround you, yeah. But he was in his house and SAFE. He left the SAFETY to get into a shouting match that turned into a shooting.

Keep your ass safe is the #1 rule.

Who cares? Cap all their asses with a claymore and let Jesus and Mohammad sort it out later.

and we don't know what happened in that five minutes. thats his word against the gangs.

True, but we know one thing for sure.

He violated several gun laws by taking a loaded gun outside and pointing it at unarmed people.

That and the fact that he willingly gave up his defensive position (and with it, his defense of "self DEFENSE").

I think that is fairly common for black people to have last names like "White" or "Brown" or "Black". Think Kunta Kinta getting renamed in Roots.

You know... I would have guessed that you would be the first in line advocating for the guy who used the gun. It must be bizarro world.

You can say he huddled in turpentine for all I care. There was no reason for a father, and an adult, with the responsibilities those entail to leave a safe position and offer lethal violence to words from children.

How far over your head this goes is truly sickening.

How much of that home does the shooter own now, genius?

Good rebuttal. One difference is this guy had more right to shoot. He was confronted in public, had no way to get away from them, etc... And with 4 guys, if they wanted to do more than just rob him, they could have.
Shame the jury convicted him of the pistol charge though.

Joe Horn went to prison? How does that work, when the Grand Jury returned a No Bill on his arraignment?

And who's to say I'm not armed? I didn't "look" armed? Or in retrospect, after you've shot me and sent by buddies running, you can look back and say "well, gee, I didn't really think he was armed"? That's the thing about trying to analyze what we know happend with what might have happened.
We KNOW the young men were chasing the son (no one denied that). We KNOW the young men harbored racial hatred (I'm no fan of so-called hate crimes, but it does speak to motive for attempted assault or murder). We KNOW the young men didn't disperse, even after dad came outside to scare them off.

See, I'd shoot you BEFORE you got a chance to hurt me. If you don't want me to shoot you, then don't make me fear for my safety.

So when there's a violent mob in my front yard, it's all cool, as long as I huddle inside my cage where I'm "safe"?

Look. This kind of bullshit belittles us both. Can't we talk like adults, without twisting words and making blatantly false accusations? You know a gang of thugs standing outside your house screaming threats at your family is a whole lot different from "hey there are kids on my lawn".

Thanks for the amateurish psychoanalysis. However, I have no interest in being a hero. I simply have no interest in being a victim.

I disagree. If people were outside yelling threats at me and my family, I would go outside and tell them to leave. If they didn't leave, then I would make them leave. And if they attacked me, then I would shoot. Your home is your sanctuary, not your cage. You have no obligation to lock yourself in and hope the nice people threatening your life decide not to break in.

Actually the "one set of rules ... fit all areas of the country" requires a 2/3rds majority and ratification by 3/4ths of the states, not just a simple 51%, otherwise it's up to the state.

Yes, I'm fairly certain that the whole naming them with no care about their real names was fairly racist.

Just a little.
