Best horror film?

For me the scariest one I had seen in ages when it first came out was the 1st "Hellraiser" movie at that time it was the best horror movie I had seen I had never seen anything like pinhead or his "frienRAB" before.

There have been 2 or 3 sequels since and they are nowhere near as good though.

THe original "Alien" was also pretty scary as you didn't know what was coming and while the 2nd one was good I wouldn't call it scary.

ok thanks i have seen house of wax and thought that was good ! and i have also seen the texas chainsaw massacre which was scary and i have seen the ring and the descent which i loved!

I have bought saw and i am watchin it tomorrow ! Im looking forward to that :D

Suspiria is a borefest in my opinion. It is a sub-par horror flick. If you can call it a horror flick that is. The movie is drawn out 80 minutes longer than it should be. Just because it was made in the late 70's doesn't mean it is a classic and should be hailed as one or you are wrong if you disagree. I am not saying anyone here said that, but this is how some think with regarRAB to this movie and others around at that time made by Argento. Talk about narrow mindedness. The movie is crap, plain and simple. Zombie Flesh Eaters made by Lucio Fulci is a better horror movie than Suspiria will ever be. It has better tension and way better atmosphere, but again, this is in my opinion only ;)

you probably watched it on an old vhs tape. i saw it in the
abc1 cinema, in sauchiehall street one sunny afternoon..
there were only 30 or so people in the cinema it was
midweek. it was in widescreen, had a razorsharp image,
and incredible surround sound. the surround sound was
just amazing. i remember a rushing, flapping sound starting
from the back of the auditorium that seemed to go right
past my neck. i was sitting near the front. the use of colour,
tracking shots shots, the rain, the cacophony of goblin's
music..made for a visual cinematic treat.. i haven't seen
zombie flesh eaters, but i can say i have never been that
interested in the zombie genre.. i liked shiver, the original
halloween and the original friday the 13th.
