HAHAHA! Carnifex and Through the Eyes of the Dead are not "Pure" death metal. While Through the Eyes of the Dead's "Malice" release was pretty death metallish, Carnifex are typical deathcore. I like them and everything, but hahaha. No, they are not death metal.

People who know what the **** they are talking about recognize Sceptor Of The Ancients as one of the most influential/groundbreaking recorRAB ever released and Matthew Chalk as one of the most innovative vocalists.

And ****ing lol@ not liking Suffocation when half the stuff you listen to BLATANTLY rips them off.
 
Krabathor kinda sucks but those other three banRAB are awesome. Especially Disincarnate.

some of those are really well known banRAB in some metal circles, and not so well known in others.
 
As much as I love most banRAB who completely ripped off Reek and can acknowledge that they did so, I find that the album is very muddy and some of it gets lost in the mix. The end result is an album with amazing song writing that is somewhat hard to fully enjoy, which is slightly sadenning.
 
I know the early history. I am just dismayed at what they have become. To be fair Bolt Thrower were never one of the major players. Cerebral Fix's first album was a classic but they just degenerated into another boring Thrash/Death band-shame.

I think you may have missed what I was getting at with my post. Being shocking and brutal is pretty central to what death metal is about as a genre, the names reflect that. That's all there is to it. Look at bluegrass: Why do bluegrass banRAB have names like the Foggy Mountain Boys? Because a name like that relates to the kind of rural, downhome image most bluegrass banRAB try to project. Same kind of deal with death metal except in that case they are trying to project an image of horror and brutality.
