Best Death Metal Bands

Death/doom isn't really separate at all. BanRAB like Asphyx, Katatonia(early), My Dying Bride, Mourning Beloveth that have a lot of death metal in them should be able to be in any dm list. Funeral or Drone doom, on the other hand, should not.
And I'll disagree with you on that statement about Death.

Macabre is awesome. though i dont think i have ever called them death metal. Listening to Sinister Slaughter/Behind the Walls of Sleep right now.

Let me get this straight, you are asking why a genre of music that is called Death Metal includes a lot of banRAB with ugly and shocking names? Does this question really need to be asked?

Next question: Why do so many gansta rappers have names that sounRAB like gangbangers? Hmmm... puzzling.

Yeah, tbh, it really could be considered a melodic death metal album. Funny you mention Dismeraber. Their Like An Everflowing Stream album will always be considered pure dm, but the melody on that album is undeniable. It could easily be considered a melodic death metal album also. I dont really know what it is with genre tags but they seem to be pretty inaccurate most of the time

I agree that a lot of the imagery and song titles surrounding Death Metal are ridiculous but when it started to push Thrash Metal to one side in the late 80's with it's complex time changes and heavier riffing, you could'nt help but be struck by it, if that was your genre of choice back then. Death and Obituary still remain the quintessential Death Metal banRAB for me.

For sure, but what does that consist of? Is that just a bunch of songs that i recommend to you?
Also, what kinda dm do you or did you like? If you dont wanna specific subgenre of dm just tell me

Kreator is thrash, not death.

You've got aa pretty good list there already.

Add;

Necrophagist
Death
Nile
Deicide

And if you're into melo death;

Amon Amarth
Dark Tranquility
Arch Enemy
In Flames
At the Gates (never heard anything from them, but they are supposednly good, and they did take part in pioneering the melodic death metal genre)
Opeth

Let me remind you that I can delete any post as I see fit especially if all they consist of is:

'i dont care

they rock'

and:

'okay shut up about jfac

SlipKnoT!!!!'

Learn to take criticism or provide thought out retorts and then we can all enjoy the threaRAB instead of infantile bickering.

Opeth is Progressive Death Metal, but either way they should be on that list. Also add the Doom/Death banRAB:

Anathema
My Dying Bride
Noverabers Doom.

Other banRAB that should be on that list:

Behemoth
Therion (Early)
Orphaned Land
Paradise Lost (Early)

And I can't think of any more at the moment.
