Batman Begins

oops yes my mistake!! :p must re read them all again!! :p but still woudla ll make good part of hte story!! hence if they have hte joker in the next on e themn they cant kill him off as he has to have a big time story with Batman!! :D
Jason has probably done like catwoman in Batman returns!!and will return in an ulmighty big bang to save the day!! :p or maybe not!! hehe

Well... read the thread. ;) Generally got a good/great reaction in the media. It's been mixed on here. It's much truer to the darker comics/graphic novels and generally more 'real'... I loved it, other haven't.

Also bear in mind, it's not a sequel to the Burton movies, it's a total restart of the franchise, so it bears no relation to the previous films.

The Trailer is better than the entire movie.......I thought the Punisher and Spider man 2 were much better films. If you put Katie Holmes appearances together, her total amount of screen time is like 5 minutes.

There was very little kick ass action scenes as the movie tended to focus on bruce wayne as a character rather than his alter ego batman.

I dont know why they called the film batman when "Bruce Wayne" would have sufficed.

Well WeatherfieldWil (cheers for reporting me for my comment, which I stand by...) I've seen the film.

Its by far better than either Spider-man or Daredevil. Much better writing and direction.

The Film is excellent!! The beginning where he isnt batman, is good, but nothing compared to when he turns into Batman! Its very dark which is good and the action scenes are great! It even has some good comedy moments in there brought by Alfred! I thouroughly enjoyed it! Batman has never looked soo angry and fierce!

This is true! How come the comics can focus on the good stuff while a film has to throw in something for the 'female demographic' (maybe)? Pah, waste of time. My girlfriend still hasn't forgiven me for taking her to Blade II and Dodgeball (which was shite I admit), so I ended up going to Batman on my own.. Indeed I'd say the audience was 2/3 male.

Justin Timberlake for Two-face? Sure. Pop stars are natural great actors, everyone knows that. Maybe they could decide on who plays the Joker with a reality TV show..

Saw it yesterday. Not bad at all. A more believeable Batman, you felt the batcave was not a totally fantastical place, it all looked like it could work. The batmobile was nothing like we've seen before but certainly did the job and excitingly realistically so (no stupid going vertical up sides of buildings). Batman was more the villain-scaring dude he should be, Bale was damned good in both aspects of his role, Gary Oldman.. is just..odd. Scarecrow good if a tad thrown in, Alfred v likeable. Love interest totally unnecessary, hope it's dropped in later films. Two things in there that really heightened the film, excellent doomy orchestral music and... the bats!

I loved the punisher - real stunts, low budget and created by people who weren't in it to make a 12a mcdonalRAB mass market dumbed down type of crud.

Didn't know Batman carried round Kryptonite in his belt whats he hoping to run into Superman in NY? lol na Superman can just heat vision the Kryptonite and turn it into black kryptonite which isnt dangerous to superman. Lol watch Smallville ;)

My main problem with this film is that it has no relation to the other movies. There will be a sequel to this that will include the Joker, which will be like a remake of the original film - what's the point in that?

They have definitely improved the franchise with this film. Admittedly the beginning was a bit dull but it soon picks up and by the end it becomes apparent that the start is vitally important to the film as a whole.

The original film I was not a big fan of. I loved Batman Returns - if only because Michelle Phiffer was brilliant as Cat Woman. Batman Forever was OK. Batman and Robin was not so good but Batman Begins was brilliant.

I would have preffered it if it tied in as it was only about 16 years ago that the first one was made. It is a bit soon for a remake. There were plenty of other villains to think of and if that means they will go through the whole lot of the original villains I don't think they will be able to find a better Cat Woman - proved by Halle Berry.

I'm also a bit disappointed that Katie Holmes will not be in the next one. I thought she did a good job and I always thought that Bruce Wayne was a bit fickle to have a different woman every movie. Spiderman has a steady girlfriend why can't Batman?

There's a ten minute preview availiable in some forums.

Ha ha, I cant believe he reported you, how pathetic!! Just because you didnt agree with his view point? Whats the point in contributing to forums if your not gonna let others have their say!!

Uh oh, bet he's gonna report me now too

One good thing out of all this is that the didnt do the typical hollywood thing of killing the bad guy off at the end, theres a suitable amount of room now to bring back the scarecrow.

Anyone whos read batman - Knightfall and ejoyed it half as much as I did would have wanted to kill someone for what they did to Bane in the Schumacher/Waner/Money franchise films.

When they killed of the joker in the first film i had mixed feelings because some argue that batman cant exist without the joker and the same the other way around

The casting was a little iffy, the love interest almost in some respect seemed to copy that unrequited love of the first film of spiderman.

Just realised what it is for me that didnt quite fit. In some parts it came across as wanting to be an "intense psycological thriller" but the production values and directorship didnt seem to quite match, either than or this type of film doesnt work for that genre, what with batman being a comic book character after all.

I agree with most others that some parts were just drawn out and still unsure about batman in a live action setting. Does it work? a second view of the film will help :D

The best Batman has to be the first one with Michael Keaton that was dark and focused more on Batman rather than Bruce Wayne........We want to see Batman for Batman as the caped crusader who bashes up people, not the crap that is batman begins.

Who banned Peej Kerton? :(

I hope it's temporary. Peej has been a valued and dedicted contributor to the Movie forum for years and like me he's been waiting this film since he was a kid.

MoRAB I implore you, revoke Peej's ban. :(

OT: Batman Begins was everything I hoped it would be. I never thought a director would come even close to adapting Bruce Wayne's inner conflict and the symbolism of the bat to film. Christopher Nolan came very close.

Yep, I saw it yesterday, and was totally impressed. Really lived up to expectation. Everything Batman should be. Very like the
graphic novels. Totally agree with VinnieMole, it felt believeble in the same way 'Batman : Year One' does.

Also agree on the love interest. A bit token, but at least it fitted into the story. I really hope Nolan is brave enough to not put a love interest into the next film though, as you say, it doesn't need a token damsel in distress.

Oh, and I want a batmobile! :D

It seems it may not defiantly be The Joker for the Batman Begins sequel as producer Charles Roven has been talking about the sequel. He said that he denies he's searching for a new, younger Joker "The Internet has the Joker cast already," Roven said. "The 'Net has also cast the Riddler. It's just all rumors. ... The truth is we haven't even decided who will be the next villain." He also said concerning the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins was "was our way of tipping our hats to the very first Batman movie" so it is no way a confirmation that The Joker will be in the sequel. Roven also confirmed that the status of the sequel "It's up to Chris Nolan and his schedule. He wants to make another movie first." So it looks like we could have a long wait for a sequel to Batman Begins!
