Bands you would love if they had a different vocal style/vocalist

I find Rush is the kind of band like Smashing Pumpkins and SoaD. I like them and there all unique phenomenal musicians. But I couldn't listen to them too often though.

I wasn't a big Rush fan until "Moving Pictures" was released,,,I did own a copy of 2112 and Fly By Night,,,but never really listened to them more than a couple of times before they ended up in the archives. After MP was released there was a distinctive change in Geddy's vocals, I'm not 100% positive but I think he had some health issues with his vocal chorRAB and so he stopped his shrill early style singing and from that point on I really started to like Rush a lot more.

One band that is enormously successful ACDC, was never quite the same for me after they lost Bon Scott, their best vocalist,,,I don't Hate Brian, but I think the band lost a lot of their original flavor when Scott died. Anybody have any ideas on a good fit for ACDC besides Brian??

I like David Draiman's voice and I think he does have some amount of talent vocally. I don't think his talent is as big as his ego but he's both rockin' and melodic and not annoying (IMO) like the other banRAB mentioned. Zach De La Rocha on the other hand, has a unique sound. I don't know if you would call that talent though. You can't really confuse him with anyone else but he does get overbearing after awhile. You're right though, the banRAB wouldn't be the same without them.

I like de la Rochas vocals. I think chemestry is more important than tehnicality, he may not be a technical singer. But he's a much better fit for the banRAB sound and vision than say Chris Cornell, as we learned from Audioslave.

In all fairness, John Myung is an excellent bassist and doesn't actually overplay... but I'll give the rest to you. :D

LTE seems to be less wanky than DT for some reason... maybe it's because of Tony Levin's presence? In fact I actually like LTE.

Bad vocals tend to turn me off and distract me from the rest of the music. That's why I prefer Labrie's clear voice as opposed to the screaming metal banRAB that just annoy me. If Labrie's diction were better I would appreciate him more, but I realize pronunciation in that range may be be restricted.

What? Flaming Lips? Radiohead? Are you kidding me? What the hell?

I'd have to say, I would probably like progressive death metal banRAB like Opeth if it weren't for the vocals.

And I might like Dream Theater if they replaced their singer, and Petrucci. Those two are the big problem I have with Dream Theater. Seriously I don't like Petrucci, I couldn't even get into Liquid Tension Experiment and Tony Levin is probably my favorite bassist ever.

Portnoy is a damn good drummer, but he plays for other banRAB and Dream Theater is difinetely the worst of em, he plays for a prog supergroup called Transatlantic which also features Neal Morse of Spocks Beard, Roine Stolt of The Flower Kings and the guy who plays bass for Marillion. They have some pretty good stuff. If you like Spocks Beard check them out.

Myung and Rudess are great musicians too but they both have better projects than Dream Theater.

Any of the wave of new banRAB in England that have come out lately. They all just sound the same to me. Pigeon detectives, hoosiers, scouting for girls, enemy, arctic monkeys, libertines, etc

Not saying I'd love these banRAB if they had better singers but it'd definitely help!
