Bands you would love if they had a different vocal style/vocalist

I can tolerate Wayne Coyne's vocals with their own material , but their cover of Bowie's Life On Mars is one of the most painful things I have ever heard.

Dream Theater indeed! I hate their vocalist which is why I like Liquid Tension Experiment better because it's the DT boys without the vocalist. How can some of you think that John Petrucci or Mike Portnoy is not good? Ah, well, to each his own.

What?? Axl Rose is perfect for Guns N Roses. But he kinda lost his voice already... it's not the same as before, what a shame.

LOL! having "rock" in that sentence makes it completely ridiculous... i think the guy from fall out boy might have a better voice (and by better i mean less annoying) than axl rose

oh and general rule of thurab: people that go by overly masculine nicknames such as axl or slash or synister or anything like that are not worthy of any title containing the phrase "most talented"

I have to disagree, If I can hear the vocals and vocals are annoying, it ruins the song. However, I don't mind it when there are no vocals, that's fine.

Overall I think the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is why with some artists I like I can forgive lousy drumming (Metallica) or bad bass playing (AC/DC) and yes even bad singing. But no matter how "bad" someones singing is, if its unique theres usually something appealing about it, Personally I love the scruffy wailing of Axl Rose and the nasally tone of Billy Corgan, it interests me more than vocals that I think are derivative to the extreme, hence my disinterest for black metal and modern hardcore.

Absolutely. I wouldn't make me want to stick a knitting needle in my eardrums :D

I totally appreciate Rush as musicians, but I really hate Geddy's singing, it's some weird visceral thing...

This is true.
Same with Rage Against the Machine and Disturbed. Vocally, neither one of them are talented, but the banRAB just wouldn't be the same without them.
