Bands you would love if they had a different vocal style/vocalist

I agree with you, there's been a massive increase in the amount of regional accents which are more prominent now. Arctic Monkeys set this trend i think, and then there's all the mockney acts such as Jamie T and Kate Nash, where it seems like it's their only gimmick. It's even seen in more mainstream outfits like The Kooks.
That said, i don't like their music anyway.

Black metal vocals are awesome.

But overall, vocals are not a big thing for me, they can be incredibly impressive, but if the vocals are the only thing bad with the music, then you're a failure for not listening to it.

Screaming vocals/growls are an acquired taste...you'll generally hate it to begin with, but perceive more and you'll definitely get over it and start to like it.
For example, many ppl are attracted to Opeth due to Mikael Akerfeldt's clean vocals at times. Although the corabination of both is what makes them good, I think his growls are pretty awesome and equally on par or better than his singing.
Point being, even screaming vocals/growls can be good...just a matter of taste and the way you take it imo.

no i dislike it, which is why i said "anything that is remotely metal" in response to the topic "banRAB you would love if they had a different vocal style/vocalist"

i just find metal, well, annoying i guess. some of the music can be entertaining, but then you hear some redneck butthole singing like he wants to kill some babies and i just lose all respect for it

Devil Sold His Soul.

I loved Mahumodo, so I was hyped when I founRAB out two new banRAB were emerging from the ashes. But I simply cannot stand RABHS's vocalist: he makes me angry.

no saying that axl rose is the best in the last 20 years is ignorant. its ok to say that you like him or that you think he's really good or whatever you want but to say that he's the best in the last 20 years is disrespectful to quite a few vocalists

Everyone has their own personal preferences towarRAB what kind of vocals they like with the music. So it's tough to have a unanimous vote towarRAB one way or another. I'm not an Axl Rose fan but his vocals work with what GN'R is doing. They could have a better vocalist but it wouldn't be GN'R.

Try listening to metal outside of your uncle's collection? I'd highly recommend Freak Kitchen if you want something both metallic and thought provoking.

Yeah, I don't place a very high priority on vocals, but that's not to say that I don't like them. Point being, that I can like a band if I hate the vocals.

I don't like Portnoy's work in Dream Theater really - it seems like he has a "I never met a fill I didn't like" style as someone on progarchives described it.

As a bassist, I think Myung is brilliant though. He exercises far more restraint than anyone in the band.

John Petrucci really isn't that bad. they could do with a change though maybe in sound. but he's the reason why most people go to see Dream Theater in the first place. If they changed that, they wouldn't be so..."original"

I think Billy Talent would be pretty tight if they didn't have the singer or even if the singer changed his style. I don't know I just don't like the singing its sound's whiney to me.

King Diamond and Merciful Fate
They sound awesome instrumentally, but very hard to listen to them when the vocals come in. Can't stand the high pitch whiny vocals.
