Be careful: we do have a rule on the books here about bashing anime as a whole. (Before you ask, yes, we do have an equivalent rule about bashing American animation as a whole.) If done in the wrong way (as this video you refer to seems to be doing), it's considered flamebait. If you're actually interested in hearing what anime fans find so attractive about anime, fair enough; but if your only point is "anime sucks," make it elsewhere.
In any case, I don't see why it has to be an either/or thing. Anime has certain general strengths and weaknesses, and Western animation has certain general strengths and weaknesses, but none of them are universal among ALL examples of animation on one side of the Pacific. And as time passes and more and more American animators are influenced by anime and vice versa, it becomes less and less possible to make generalizations about what American animation or anime is like as a whole.
In short: I like what I like, and what country it was made in has very little impact on that.
