Are we in a quagmire in Iraq?

Oh, given enough time I quite agree that the Reconstruction of Iraq will be a vast improvement on the Hussein Era. I don't think that Reconstruction efforts are given enough visibility, all things considered. Given how they mislead the American public and Congress, I think they're patching things up as well as can be expected. A public set of easily determined conditions for withdrawal is all that's missing.

That's why you spent your time in the enlisted ranks. It took intellect to determine if a war with China was worth the price for occupying a ruined Vietnam circa 1970s. This is the same deal with one exception, we're going to pour even more money down a sinkhole after being wrong about WMRAB but China isn't there to spoil our post-WMD political deception of this being a humanitarian gesture.

I would ask you to name one Conservative politician in the U.S. who has called it a quagmire but I know you can't do it becasue he or she does not exist.........

After following the recent posts on this thread I have only a couple of things to add.

1. The forum should have an age minimum. If I wanted to listen to teenage logic I would have kept my kiRAB home from the video arcade. jazyjason....go clean your room. Say the pledge while you're at it. Good boy. :)

2. I see liberals get upset when called liberals and I see homophobes and bigots get upset when called homophobes and bigots. Why is everyone intent on upsetting each other. Is this romper_room.com?

Gentlemen...please. The Truthsayer hath spoken the truth. Yet again. :xangel:

OK....go to your corners. At the sound of the bell...come out swinging.

Why do I bother? Forgive me lord and bless the little pygmies down in New Guinea. Amen.

It affects your compasion for less fourtunate people. we are a nation that is supposed to help, to care,to serve and to shine a beacon of hope for all.

Where did he say he was a conservative?

Looks like a quagmire to me though: little to no progress and a growing body count.

What's your definition of a quagmire VoR?

WWII was also a case of self interest, everybody fought to protect their freedom. The Allies knew that only by working together could they achieve total victory.

The UN serves its purpose by letting countries talk to eachother before throwing nukes and stuff. It also helps in containing conflicts before they escalate and threaten the rest of the world.

Back on topic. I heard President Bush the other day during his speech at Fort Bragg praising our brave sons and daughters for doing the wounderful job they are doing under such dangerous and difficult situations.

Danger and difficult = Quagmire by definition. If the president himself says we are in a quagmire there in Iraq, who am I to disagree?

Personally i find it hardto hide my arsenal of high tech NBC weapons systems capable of launching in 45 minutes. But then again I dont have access to a desert "in which to bury them" My scud launchers are hidden under some tarps in my back yard.

We were told "he could deploy in 45 minutes" - are you saying that was incorrect?

Some dodgy logic here - see if you can find it!

Yes, but there is also more unrest and terrorism then there has been in a long time.

BTW: Libya disarming had nothing to do with the US

Who have you been talking to? Is it me?

Actually, I encourage children to become aware of the things going on around them regardless of my impatience with them on occassion. I have become the old man I used to wail against I suppose.

And truly, they have the right of free speech. No question there (however I wouldn't use that excuse to tell your teacher where to go.. :p )

I am not saying that our young friend is stupid, quite the contrary (he found his way here, didn't he?) He is merely inexperienced and unexposed and out of his league here on the intelligence side.

Not ever having seen him, do you wonder how I knew he was a minor?

When I was a child, I spake as a child......... he is no different.

In this country you would be classified as a moderate leaning left........

You have Conservative views on fiscal issues as I do......

No true Social Conservative can be pro abortion and Gay marriage........

Killing dissenters is not on the program. Killing terrorists is on the program. A US imposed government is not on the program. Iraqi self-determination is on the program and yes, that is democracy in action.

You have dodged the questions about whether the insurgents are winning, and by what measure you come to that conclusion. Can we please move away from the bumper-sticker slogans, and discuss the real issues?

Saddam broke it. Maybe you should suggest a civil suit to make him fix it.

Who is "they"?? If you were watching the tube a couple of hours ago, the public set of easily determined conditions for withdrawal is now on the table - and it's the same as ever: we stand down when the Iraqis can stand up to the invading terrorists.

We have plenty of Americans, for various reasons, who need assistance. I'm a firm believer in charity beginning at home. If there's some left over, fine, send it to the neediest entity. But until the neediest American is living at a standard above whomever we intend to help, limit any charity to repairing damages from a natural disaster. Not a war of aggression to instill our ideology.
