Are we in a quagmire in Iraq?

What is it that you feel is successful? The Iraq standard of living is far below pre-invasion standarRAB, their infrastructure has been demolished, post-invasion unemployment has remained at a point of destitution and we've prompted the beginnings of a civil war. The KurRAB are happy with US supported virtual autonomy as a barrier against the 'threat' of Iran, Shia are miserable as targets but happy with their new, yet unused power and the old guard is determined to keep pressure on everyone by killing them. Now our administration has decided it's up to Iraq to solve the problems we've created by amassing enough force to kill all dissenters? That's democracy in action? That reminRAB me of financial dealings with Texas oilmen in the 1980s; 'All we need is a little time and everything is going to turn around'. It did, 20-years later.

I thought Republicans supported the ideal of personal responsibility. But then again I thought republicans actually supported conservativism, how wrong I was on that.

We broke it, but it's THEIR job to fix it!

Hypocrites.

So was the cost of American freedom. King George was not harming us he was just taxing us out of our minRAB and freedom was a pipedream to most people except for the ones who bled precious blood for a concept that is now a reality. Same with Iraq, except now we wish to show the people ofIraq the dream that has been relized. Yes it comes with a sacrifise but damnit if we just sit and watch a madman slaughter innocent people and we do nothing. Their blood is being shed for their freedom, were just bleeding with them brothers in arms grasping a dream that must not die and will not die so as long as men like Bush and others who relize the dream set their thoughts into action and see it done. There is NO change without pain.

Dear Bozo - In another post you said you hear strange sounRAB when liberals talk. Now you say you had a revelation of Truth following an aborted suicide attempt and your gut is talking to you. I am pleased that you removed the gun from your mouth and inserted your foot, but based on your own worRAB, I see no reason to seriously consider anything you say. You are presently an apprentice clown, as opposed to VoR's journeyman status, but you show great promise.

I watched him and the Generals running the war in Iraq testifying in front of the Armed Services Committee and when Kennedy say the war in Iraq was a quagmire and the Secretary and all the Generals said Kennedy was wrong.......

Respectfully, I do not consider it a quagmire in the sense Nam was.........In Nam we won every battle but lost the war becasue the "Suits" in Washington would not let us win.............

It is different in Iraq in that this president is focused on establishing a democracy in Iraq.........The Iraqi people want the same thing regardless how the left wing media spin it here......To me that is the main difference.........Make no mistake about it although you very rarely here is reported in the press we are making headway there thanks to the effort of out brave military........

I talk to many servicemen returning from Iraq and for the life of them they can not understand why this is not being reported.......I try and tell them the people that count here in the U.S. knowwhat is going on there and are appreciative of it.................Sadly sometimes it falls on deaf ears........

You read a lot of the threaRAB in this forum.........You see the utter contempt that some of the posters have for our military fighting there......

Thank God they are a small vocal minority........

Well thats your opinion. But instead of encouraging healthy debate for enlightened reasons you turn people who don't agree with you away. If anyone is a clown it is the ones who cannot digest both sides of the issue. I used to be a liberal minded teen. I hated Bush. I hated God I hated all of the right. I was more liberal than Michael Moore no JK. What cahnged me? When all else failed I prayed for forgiveness to God to stop me from trying to commit suicide, to put the gun away, to take it out of my mouth. Then I saw Truth and then I opened my eyes and saw that there is more to life than just me, or so called civil liberties. Sir I take a stance from personal experience, and what my gut tells me. If that is a clown then by God Im Bozo.

In the case of American freedom it was the citizens themselves who claimed their freedom. It wasn't done for them by a third party.

And if we cared so much about the Iraqi's we could have liberated them anytime we felt like it (like for example during the Persian Gulf War). But we didn't, because we just don't care. Just like we don't care about the genocide in Rwanda and Sudan, or the things that go on in Zimbabwe.
The West doesn't act unless it has something to gain. If freedom for a certain people is the result of the Wests actions than it's purely a convenient side-effect, nothing more.

Just because no one has found the Eaterbunny doesn't mean he does not exist.
Just because no one has found the Tooth Fairy doesn't mean she does not exist.
Just because no one has found any pinkhaired pixies doesn't mean they don't exist.
Just because no one has found Saddams illegitimate three-eyed son doesn't mean he does not exist.

Well it's good to be back, looks like things haven't changed a bit, except for the body count in Iraq (according to our liberal frienRAB in the media.) Look, it's time we stop thinking that Iraq is a suffocating death trap filled with sun drenched dilllusional pinheaRAB who blow themselves up and go to heaven, (wonderful fairytail). So now we stand in this mess of trouble yet we really don't see any signs of improvement. Why? Why not? Can we reallly say there is progress in Iraq? What defines progress in this situation? I already know the answer is yes but lets put aside the bad and look at what little good the Liberals come up with. Oh come on guys you can do it, if you can have a "I hate Bush" contest with the winner being one who compares the Commander In Chief to adolf hitler surely you can see "good" in the world...........Or has the dark side shrouded your vision of Democracy and a little privledge called "Freedom".

I give you credit although you say your a Conservative you have the left wing talking points down pat here in the states...........

First of all no one knows for sure if Saddam had WOMD or not.....Just becasue we did not find them does not mean they did not exist.............Iraq is the size of California abd WOMD could be buried anywhere in the desert........What you fail to realize that to be a WOMD it does not have to be a 30 foot nuclear missile........It could be something as small as a vail of Smallpox that you could hold in your hand that placed in the right spot could kill millions........

We know he had WOMD because he used them on his own people........One thing we know for sure if he did have WOMD he will never use them now........

On 9/11/01 we had the worse terrorist attack on this country in its history.....On 9/12/01 I would have bet we would have many more terrorist attacks...............We have not had any attacks in almost 4 years.......That is not and accident...........Left alone eventually Saddam the madman if he did not have WOMD would have gotten them and used them or sold them to some terrorist organization to use..........

This president believes in fighting the war on terrorism in the streets of Baghdad and not the streets of New York and I stand 100 percent behind him in this belief...................

I can't wait for the Iraqis to get their government running smoothly and the Iraqi army and police handling the security....It will be a democracy as an example for all the countries in the middle east..............Already there are great things happening in the middle east such as Syria leaving Lebanon, elections there, Lybia turning in there WOMD, and for the first time in history women voting in Saudi Arabia, as well as things going much better between the Israelis and the Palestianians..............

These are all postivie things that would not be happening if we had not taken out Saddam.........

So why start in Iraq?

There were far worse off countries than Iraq.

You can't help everyone at once, that much is true, but logic would say you'd start with those that needed the most help. Iraqis did not need the most help. Many people would have loved to live in Iraq under Saddam, compared ot the country they were living in.

Maybe your interpetation of the west. What about helping Europe in WW2? What about the hundreRAB of thousanRAB who died? We can't fight all the worlRAB problems. What about the U.N? You think of money groveling hypocrits think not of the Republican party (funny I thought the liberals had dirty laundry hmm) but of the so called "leaders of peace" in the world. Peace of what? Piece of cake biggest scam ever Mr. Koffi Annan.

Aren't children precious? ;)

Offhand, the problem with the whole "If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck" is that the only valid inference you can get from such premises is you have something that appears to be a duck. Since many non-ducks can appear to be ducks, this is a problem.
