Anyone Watch The Wright Stuff?

I'm glad they've dropped the 'lifestyle gurus' from the show. They're only on very occasionally now compared to what they were before. Wish they'd do new opening credits too, that bit at the start with Matthew nodding his head looks incredibly naff.

Totally agree with you Matthew is just that & he's so rude to callers who don't share his point of view whats the point of phoning up only to cut off.
Such a cheek calling Jeremy - Jeremy Vile has he ever watched it ?? It might be car crash telly but he means well & tries to help people even if they are a bit weird
Only watch bits of it & yes same old audience & panel perhaps he bribes them :D

I was not sure about her tears. I felt uncomfortable, too.

For anyone who didn't see the show, they were discussing whether it is harder to cope with the loss of a sibling than the loss of a parent.

It was Lowri Turner who was crying.
She apparently lost a brother recently.
Lowri is famously one of Triplets. She famously 'pretenRAB' to be a twin. And deliberately does not mention the other triplet. I always wonder why.
So her crying for the bereavement of a brother made me curious - if it is so sad to no longer have her brother in her life, why does she pretend her other triplet does not exist?

I am hoping that someone will ask her that one of these days.

Nothing wrong with being blatantly gay. He's also a Conservative and talks a lot about his political views. Apparently, Dr Bull is known to be gay privately but doesn't make much of an issue about it. Whether that's because of his politics, I don't know. It's not supposed to be an issue these days, even in the Conservatives.

yes, but not openly. ive met david on a few occasions and have also have had the pleasure of seeing what many have not. i live in brighton and david has just bought a flat slap bang in the town centre. i also have seen him i G-A-Y And revenge in brighton, in many a compromising posistion!. that said he's a really nice guy, is passionate about his work, politics etc and alougth is not open about his sexuality i can understand why he doesnt want the public attention , also i think to most - its pretty damn obvious! dave lets say isnt the paticulary butch and has a very camp persona

I've been watching regularly for about 5 or 6 years or so now, it's quite easy going TV for the mid-morning, agreed that Matthew can be a tad arrogant here or there, but I like the show. I can't abide when George Galloway appears, not a fan of Lowri Turner either.

I don't like the new format they've had since their Summer break, having a natter and then taking upto 25 minutes and an ad-break before they start the Paper review.

I watch it for the daily newspaper review.

I love it when Ed Vaizey is on.
And I enjoyed listening to Hughie Morgan very much, too.
I don't like Carole Malone, Lowri Turner or Yasmin Alibei-Brown - because they interrupt the others all the time. I want to hear EVERYONE's opinions.

MW is a poor journalist and a bad presenter, I have paused on the show occasionally - but he is so annoying that I could never watch the whole show.

His gurning and eyes make me click over pretty quickly. We can only be glad he isn't on one of the 2 main channels.

Well, that's because like every other area of broadcasting - cutbacks. It's cheaper to keep the guest of the day along 10 mins longer, rather than pay someone else to talk for so long that they only have time to take one or two calls.

I'd like to have Dr Miriam Stoppard more often, though ;)

I like Anne Diamond but don't like Lowri Turner who interrupts everyone else and tries to dominate the discussions. As for Carole Malone, she is as someone has already posted a "Miss Know-it-All" can't stand that woman.

Matthew Wright hates children and pets. He makes no secret of that and sometimes he is downright rude to the callers. That annoys me.

I like the Doctor who regularly appears, Carole Thatcher, Terry Christian and the programme is always more enjoyable when Kaye Adams is presenting.

My favourite part is the review of the daily papers which sadly gets less time than it used to.

I know he writes a TV review for the News of The World but surely he'd be free to do a stint on Wright Stuff
Perhaps there is some gossip ha ha
Will check on Sundays & see if he has a dig

Only ever used to watch this show when I woke up late in bed after a heavy night out. It's rare that anything can make Jeremy Vine's sanctimonious Radio 2 chatterati sound intellectual, but, by God, Matthew Wright and his cronies can do it.

Yawn. Find me the quote where i demand Holland be banned from the show. For me, you can't excuse calling civil partnerships nonsense and calling that Moir article political correctness gone mad as being right wing, it's old fashion ignorance and idiocy (remember, he wasn't even calling gay marriage nonsense, which as a catholic you could have some defense for). I wonder if he came on and said interracial couples getting married was nonsense you'd defend his views as right wing.

I don't mind right wing panelists being on the show, brings variety and debate, especially if its someone as classically right leaning as Carol Thatcher. I remember on the "devil children case" her response was basically "lock them up and throw away the key" and the guy next to her completely shot that view down as misjudged rubbish (don't want to get into a debate on that btw.)

I never said there was thank you!

I do think phone callers that disagree with him are usually hushed up fast or scrutinized to a point where they fall apart on live TV, but as the guy is usually fairly rational and undecided in his views (except on his breeding stuff, he spews absolute crap on that), the kind of caller that is disagreeing with him are "PC gone mad" types. Not always, but the callers very often don't seem to have a clear idea of what they're saying and a couple questions in will be backtracking. For a presenter doing a debate show, that must get frustrating after a while.

I agree castanet, I thought his opinion on Gordon Brown's interview and the comments he made yesterday were wrong. He has an annoying tendenancy to cut people off if they disagree with his point of view. I am glad he has a panel, otherwise the discussion topics would only have one point of view as he seems to think he is always right when it is not the case at all.

The things that annoy me about this are the recurring audience members. Some of them even seem to be there every day. Like that speccy bald loon who keeps chuckling away like a mindless moron every time Matthew makes a joke.

i used to love that show but it seems to me he is so big headed now so i dont watch it like i used to i qite like it when brian conley was on the panel he jad his good wit and was serious too
