What culture?? That made-up thing has no quality and does not have any style, spirit or culture! Besides, it's only being pushed by the media like how that late-90s teen pop was. It doesn't mean that most people are seeking for it or yearning for it. It's not neutral, so it's not for everyone and it doesn't appeal to everyone.

Yes~!

I do. It's sad, they treat women like tools calling them "Hoes" (not really how you spell it, but you get it) and actually don't tend to look at their personalities.

And the girls are just, like, taking it. D:

Some of these rap songs out right now are just stupid.
Soulja Boy was cool and fun, but have you heard any of his other songs?

I don't have anything wrong with the rappers or people who like the music -- I just don't agree with the way they see things.

Edit: I swear, this thumbs down are getting on my nerves. D:
Not only on these questions, but seriously. Who doesnt like me enough to give me thumbs down on EVERY answer I give? Jeez, grow up.

I am disheartened by the negative turn rap has taken. Rap has forgotten it's roots. Instead of kids getting out the hood, off gov't assistance & not living in the PJs, it's all about how much hood credibility you have. How much bling you have. How phat a ride you have. And how many women you can get.

What happened to rap that told a story-even if it was humorous one? Or had a message/point? When did it turn to ALL women being beeotches & ho's, & everyone wanting to emulate a pimp? Talk about keeping it real? Man, keeping it real is about finishing your education, getting a job & making money to provide for you & your family. But that's not what sells. That's too tame for the record execs & the entire industry. So, we're left with this crap that rap has become today.

Now, I'm not saying not to have fun in rap & not talk about the good times, parties, etc. But when I watch a rap video, I can't relate to ANYONE on that video. They're not like me. All the talk of the ice, bling, Moet, Krystal, tvs up in the headrest? The average person can't ever afford that type of lifestyle, yet you have the folks who watch these videoes, doing everything to look like they have something that they can't afford. And in the end, they're left with nothing.

I know going to college to get an education, getting a house, getting a job that will provide for you & your family isn't glamourous & may be too real for some. And I know rap (like other forms of music) is supposed to be an outlet to take us away from the situations our lives may be in.

But there has to be a more positive way to uplift a community, talk about the struggles we all have trying to make it & keep it fun. It's like the music that the rap is over is excellent. But the message sucks.

Hate is a very strong word

besides if you do not like do not listen duh

i can't stand pop dance rave music so i just walk away
plus you should never judge someone's music based on the fact on which we catergorize it as. i know people who say they can not stand country music but they will put on a Faith Hill CD in a minute.

to each its own everyone has there own tastes that what makes us human : )

I agree that the culture and way of life that is affiliated with hip hop now is really negative. It's super male dominant, and they treat women horribly. It's strung in with drugs, materialistic desire, and male dominance, and that just isn't cool. I enjoy all music, being a music major in college, and can understand why people would choose to listen to hip hop itself. It's full of some really interesting takes on rhythms and such, that are actually really genious sometimes. Hip hop back in the 90's was way different, but the culture it has turned into I am completely against. : )

Dude dont hate. Hating is not awesome but music in general is awesome. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves, its what makes us all different.

it's not a culture for the entire U.S. just parts of it, and i dislike it. i prefer rock music, punk stuff, but that's me and i don't care what others do. why do u care so much? it's not like rock is dead yet. when someone goes and burns all of the old metallica and nirvana stuff, then rock will be dead...

Hip Hop isn't really a culture, its a musical style, the connection is that
it was derived in the inner city and ghetto areas. It is composed of
dance, lyrics and music. Unfortunately narrow minded people equate
hip hop with black or Afrocentric culture when in fact it is a unique
subset of Afro American culture. You can contrast it to country music.
Your blunted view of hip hop would word the question as such:
Anyone else HATE this country and western culture in the U.S.
That would denote that all country and western people are drunks
cheat on their wives, racist, narrow minded and live in trailers.

Yeah I hate it...
Pull ur pants up and stop grabbing ur balls all the time

Geez!!

The only thing I hate about the new hip hop culture of ours is how much it's deviated from the original hip hop culture, and gotten to be so superficial, conformist and commercialized. What ever happened to counterculture values?
