Any News On Any New Channels?

BEV still refuses to carry MSNBC but, chose to add Fox News instead. This suggests that many BEV subscribers requested Fox News. BEV's choice to carry Fox News was likely influenced by subscriber demand. BEV obviously paid attention to the number of requests it was receiving for Fox News.

that doesn't make sense...you friend isn't telling you all the facts, OR you are making it up...if you move, and can't use the BEV service at your new address, you are able to break the contract without any penalty...in fact, shaner (one of the posters in here) was able to do that with his BEV AND sympatico service...so he broke two bundled services, and was not penalized as neither service was available where he moved to.

I have Rogers at home and BEV at my cottage. To me BEV wil lawys be a cottage type of system where 1 or two TVs is used. At home I have 5 TVs and satellite will kill my bill !!!

Well, that didn't end up happening. GolTV Canada is launching November 1, and Rogers is carrying it, but ExpressVu is not as of yet.

Grrr.

i don't know if Roger's will continue many of their promo's to "win" customers back...they are losing a lot of money right now, and it will only be a matter of time until the doors are closed (at least part way, and not left wide open like they are right now).

What about OMNI-Manitoba which launches mid-November... wonder if Bell has any plans of picking that up as part of its locals offering... even on 82 would be great.

I guess if they did add it I wouldn't get it anyways since I'm on the "grandfathered pricing plan".... ;)

I am happy about these 2 new channels. I was dissapointed by the latent additions of certains channels like FNC and TCM. What I meant was that I would like to see BEV add channels at the same time as other providers or before.

where did you get this information?

i'm surprised to hear they're going to charge people extra for a channel that's basically the equivalent of CNN. what about the recent $3 price increase? shouldn't that cover the cost?

dirtyjeffer: BEV may have more channels, most of which are nothing but useless filler channels to look competitive for the big ads in the paper - "400 channels, the largest digital lineup in canada, 2/3 of which pure crap". in terms of adding useful channels like fox news and MSNBC, as well as discovery wings/military channel, bloomberg, MTV2, all of them are available on starchoice, TMN on demand, all of these channels and services are absent on BEV.

you're probably right, i don't believe there's a conspiracy not to add new american channels that directly compete with channels owned by globemedia. however, earlier this month the CRTC approved a request by CTV newsnet to change its formatting so that it could compete with channels like fox news. could this have been the reason for the delay of not adding fox news? either way, capacity or no capacity, as a customer i don't really give a ****. if bell want my business they need to play catch up to the rest and very quick. after all, the customers are the ones who decide if BEV stay in business or not.

i doubt it but we'll see. i read fox news would be 506 and MSNBC 507. there were similar rumours floating around that BEV would launch fox news on march 1 and obviously nothing happened. BEV is certainly a disappointment when it comes to adding new channels because of their technological limitations.

does anyone know what package it will be available in yet?

MTV2 is available on bell channel 578 (second satellite)

I've heard that BEV will be picking up FuelTV (Fox) and HD Net. Anyone confirm this?

Also, has BEV dropped there 6 receiver limit? Last time I called CSR the guy mentioned this in addtion to a few other changes in billing when I changed to the Max 12 package.

Bell will have The CW Network via

WPIX New York
WGN Chicago/WGN HD Chicago
KTLA Los Angeles

Right now they will not have a My Network TV Affiliate, unless they add WWOR New York. I wouldn't be surprised if most cable/satellite companies add this channels as their My Network TV Affliate.

Because we don't want to watch that dishonest, extreme left-wing Liberal, socialist, anti-American, anti-Conservative propaganda that's constantly coming out of the CBC and almost every other Canadian news source out there.

they lost $13 million last year, and have already lost $47 million in Q1 of this year.

Thanks rub it in more...I have til July 2006. Let's hope BEV brings those channels on board...I know wishful thinking
