Anime references in other movies/tv shows/other

Semi-OT: did the phrase "ghost in the shell" originate with the manga, or was it around beforehand? Just wondering, because a while back I found this in my library.
 
I know mst3k has made several references, but this is the only one I can remeraber. It's at the end of Invasion of the Neptune men.

I remeraber that KiRAB Next Door had a bit in it where Nurabah 4 had a DBZ like fantasy where he was Goku, and the Delightful Children from Down the Lane were a 5 headed Freeza. It had the battle grunting, long hair and the drawn out dialogue as well.
 
Not to mention the final battle.

Speed and his dad also had an appearance in a very early Family Guy episode, haha.

All Grown Up had the "You-Gotta-Go" trading card game.

In a rifftrax of the second Matrix film I recall hearing "Tetsuo!"
 
Noodle's flying windmill island in the Gorillaz videos for "Feel Good Inc" and "El Manana" is said to be influenced by Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky.

Wasn't there an Evangelion reference in the Invader Zim Christmas episode?

And I believe Lupin III was mentioned in Kanye West's "Touch the Sky".
 
--There was an entire episode of "Dexter's Laboratory" which was a parody of "Speed Racer".

--In one scene of the movie "See Spot Run", the little boy says he can't sleep because he had a nightmare of Charizard trying to burn him.

--In the game "Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony", you can watch an anime series (full of chuckle-worthy stereotypes) by the name of "Princess Robot Bubblegum". A mugger made to look exactly like Goku makes a short appearance and even goes Super Saiyan.
 
That reminRAB me, Family Guy Speed Racer reference.

"Speed you cannot be in this race HAHA, the Mach 5 is not ready HAHA!"
"But Pops, I must be in this race HAHA"
"Very well..ehhh...but you should know I'm not your real father HAHA"

If that was the name, it would be funnier considering it predates the "Over 9000" meme

Probably the most surprising Anime References were these two: The Price is Right and Jeopardy.

I had fun with the Jeopardy one. I was shouting at answers out loud at the contestants and calling them "FOOLS!" if they failed.
 
I find it funny that the old woman went for the more obscure series with Beast Wars.

Anyway, Megas XLR had several spoof characters of different series, like Captain Harlock, Gatchaman, and Sailor Moon.
 
There was a rather lame parody of Astroboy in a second season episode of Freakazoid!, where he was called "Hero-Boy". After Freakazoid watches the cartoon, his butler comments, "Bad Japanese cartoons, indeed!" with disgust.
 
Eh, most of those references were basically about legacy anime. almost everybody has heard of it during their time. I was a bit surprised that Robot Chicken spoofed InuYasha in their series, but what really got me was that Seth Macfarlane was a part of it. I thought he wouldn't know anything about what anime and manga really were, since he only made one reference in his entire fiction(probably because Speed racer/Mach Go Go Go is SOvery known, most curren anime fans probably don't see it as such).

The anime parody where Timmy and Vicky duke it out is called Maho Mushi, a parody that shows that Butch Hartman(or whoever was the artist) was a fan of Akira Toriyama'a art-style, of at least has shown their work. Also, at least Those at Disney know what the anime is(Look up Brandy & Mr. Whiskers and The Replacments).

There are many shows that like to parody a certain overrated Creature Controller series.

Hey, can we do this in reverse, as well? Like, what form of Japanese Fiction has reference and/or parody what sort of non-Japanese fiction?
