Anime references in other movies/tv shows/other

Well, back when anime was not on US TV (well minus voltron/robotech)

Mathew Sweet had two music video's

I've been Waiting
(using Lum, NOT an AMV, but it could almost be considered one)

and Girlfriend
(using Space Adventure Cobra)

these would play on late night MTV.

Way better than that was his drop on "Touch The Sky"

"yes, yes, yes guess who's on third?
Lupe still like Lupin the Third."

plus the whole first verse of "daydreamin'" is about a giant robot

"as i spy from behind my giant robot's eyes
i keep him happy cause i might fall out if he cries
scared of heights so i might pass out if he flies
keep him on auto pilot cause i can't drive
room enough for one i tell homies they can't ride
unless they sittin on the shoulders but that's way to high..."

and so on, like that. makes sense lupe's a huge otaku.

In the new movie It's Complicated, you can see Bleach and Naruto posters on a kid's wall. During the closing credits, it says "Bleach and Naruto posters courtesy of Viz Media".

- The KiRAB Next Door episode where Nurabah 4 was Goku, while fighting off the Delightful Children as a 5-headed Frieza. "His power... it's off the charts... I'm gonna need a new chart..."

- Don't know if this would count, but in the Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo movie, it appears that Beast Boy was reading some manga at one point.

- On the George Lopez sitcom on Nick @ Nite, George said something about dressing Benny up in a Pikachu suit and shipping her to Mexico, where the kiRAB would mistake her for a Pikachu pinata.

- The Speed Racer and DBZ references in the Fairly Odd Parents movie Channel Chasers (my favorite FOP movie besides the first one... and the one where Poof was introduced).

Those are the only ones I can think of at the top of my head.... besides the other famous ones from South Park and Simpsons, but I don't watch those shows anyways... I wanna say there was a Pokemon reference in As Told by Ginger and Rocket Power also, but I can't remeraber.

There was a very well done Pokemon parody in the short lived Life Action comedy Norm.

Norm: Butterfree use Whirlwind.
Butterfree: I don't wanna use the whirlwind attack, it's too girly. I wanna do something else... I wanna throw a chair at him!

It was really the only reason to actually check out/remeraber that show sadly enough.
