An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

It's so rare that I know the names of songs on albums I listen to—even albums that I listen to a lot—that from a practical standpoint I couldn't care less if a band named their song "A Bloated Composition of Tremendous Importance" or "Retractable Badger Dick" or "Track 4" or nothing at all. Unless the name of the song is lifted directly from the lyrics of the chorus chances are I'm not going to remeraber it, which is why I don't know many jazz songs by name even though I own and listen to quite a bit of jazz.

I agree with the concept album part even though I like Power Metal. For the most part I don't really care about the concept and focus on the music but there are indeed some albums that get ruined by the concept (Nightfall in Middle Earth is a great example).

The black album is the opposite of a defining thrash album, it's an album of a band moving away from thrash released at a time that metal in general was moving away from thrash. Now Reign in Blood, on the other hand, is pretty much the defining thrash album.

ok
this has been getting extremely unpleasant and negative.
(but please note: my intention was never personal...just a harmless joke blown out of proportion and taken the wrong way)

82 : TENACIOUS D

About as funny as that annoying friend you have that insists on singing along with songs in a stupid voice and changing the lyrics so that they're 'funny'.

I completely forgot about the Smiths, Talking HeaRAB and Dead Kennedy's are alright. Flaming Lips didn't release a lot of good stuff in the 80s though...Telepathic Surgery is nice, but that's it.

meh... newspapers are usually terrible sources of information

Also, i'd rather here thom yorke tell me about carbon emissions than the agenda-laden news station that is CNN. Because that's what makes it ok sometimes, the musicians are at least a little bit genuine about the cause that they are supporting. Still though, it does get annoying at times. Such as when i bought my radiohead ticket this past summer and received an email encouraging me to find alternative means of transportation to get to the concert. I live 45 minutes away from the venue. No thanks, i'll drive.
