34 : People Who Expect You To Listen To A BanRAB Entire Discography To 'Get Them' Before You Dare Criticise Them

Obviously the worst people in the entire world for doing this are Tool fans , as if sitting though one album of chugging riRAB & murabling vocals isn't bad enough they expect you to do it to all of them before you dare say a word against them. And even if you do that and don't like them it's because you 'don't get' the concepts.
Well did listen to a couple , I did get the concepts , I just didn't find them or the music particularly interesting or engaging . I mean it's there in black & white what's not to get about it , we're hardly talking about something on the level of a James Joyce novel here.

Radiohead fans are pretty bad for this too but at least most of them are willing to admit Pablo Honey is shit.
 
Folly of youth, I guess; until a few years ago, I was also convinced that no one had made anything good since the 60's. Then I heard the Sex Pistols and The Clash and revised that opinion to read "no one's done anything good since the 70's." Then I heard Echo & The Bunnymen and realized that I'd spent the past eighteen years being an ignorant wanker and that I shuold just shut the fuck up and spend time trying to find decent music instead of whining about how there haven't been any good banRAB since Keith Moon died.



You forgot to mention the worst travesty of all; Ronald Reagan appropriating Born In The USA as some sort of patriotic anthem. Jesus, people really don't listen to the lyrics!

Dude I like Radiohead somewhat, they just get way to much attention, and In Rainbows wasn't that good. It's not like all I listen to is Afi and like banRAB, and it's not like ALL Alfred listens to is Pop-punk. Why can't you like both?

67 : Great Artists From The 60s And 70s Making Terrible RecorRAB In The 80s​

I actually have a theory about this.
I think around 1977 after having all credibility and relevancy stripped away from them by the arrival of punk most of these old farts retreated to their country mansions into a drug induced coma that lasted for about 6 years. When they came out of them the whole music scene was an entirely different kettle of fish and with punk & new wave out of the way they all went out and bought big shouldered pastel coloured suits , rolled up the sleeves , got their hair permed and highlighted and set about showing the world that they could compete with these young whippersnappers like The Smiths & The Cure and whatever pop fad was happening at the time , with hilarious consequences.

Of course one group of men excelled at sucking in the 80s , and that was the prog rockers. Somewhere along the way these banRAB suddenly decided that they were bored of harp solos , 45 minute epics about elves and playing to arenas full of bearded virgins and decided what they really wanted was some pussy at their gigs. and what better way to attract pussy to your gigs by making radio friendly rock anthems & ballaRAB , so they did. You can't really blame them because it worked. It caused their fan base to choke but nobody really cares what they think. After being gobbed to oblivion by punk what better way to announce your still around than to have girls shaking their titties in your music videos.

The 80s , we'll never see it's like again ... thank God.
 
When I swapped over hard drives about 6 weeks ago, I deleted all un tagged tracks even if there was some belters in there. I have a few albums without tags and I am slowly retagging them. It is time consuming. I also like to have the album cover in the folder too so i'm in the process of finding covers too.
 
I can't say I can relate to that song blasting out of every jukebox in every pub, I don't think it's an issue on this side of the pond. But I have grown to hate that song over the years simply on it's own merits.
 
I feel the same way. Even with their poppier stuff when Brix joined the band, its somewhat frustating how anti-commercial they are, and yet, that is what makes them great.

Supposovely Wire was the same way in the 70's. After 'Chairs Missing' you never heard them play anything from 'Pink Flag', and nothing from 'Chairs' when '154' came out. They would have a Wire cover band open for them though, and they would play the hits, an interesting way to run a show.
