Whatever next? Is Chris Martin & Bono going to stand next to my local supermarket checkout going through my trolly to make sure that the coffee I buy gives a fair price to one armed single parent lesbian coffee farmers.... or something.

I'm bored of being concerned about everything. And even if I was moved to do something because of an appeal it certainly wouldn't be because some rock star thinks I should be. Of course i'm going to give a flying fuck about climate change because Bono thinks I should be. Yes I am going to be lectured to about climate change by a man who flies items of clothing first class on jurabo jets. The day my carbon footprint is bigger than yours them you can lecture me , until that day happens shut the fuck up.

And lets be honest , does anyone really give a shit about debt in Africa? I mean what exactly am I supposed to do about it? I didn't lend them the money.
The only reason anybody gave a shit about Live 8 was to see Pink Floyd reform. As far as the cause behind it or the bunch of non entities who played before Pink Floyd , who cares.

Although I can't really include benefit gigs in this. As far as i'm concerned a gig is a gig and once i've paid my money to get in who cares what happens to it. If it goes to a charity then great , more power to you. As long as I get my moneys worth i'm happy.

Basically i'm bored of all these lilly livered liberal rock stars being caring & sharing. If I want to be informed about something i'll pick up a newspaper and read about whats going on. I don't see why I should pay special attention to something you can't keep your gob shut about just because you can strum a couple of chorRAB. If you feel that strongly about something write a song about it. At least that way you'll keep me entertained as you lecture me.

I much prefer my rock stars coked up to the eyeballs talking shite to be honest.

Foo Fighters are meh, Smashing Pumpkins suck, and Linkin Park has always been feminine nu metal bull****.

Dream Theater is also very overblown, but at least they are talented.

NOTE: Being a dog that eat scraps from the master's table, or in your case a bitch to some David Thorpe reject is never a standard you should set for yourself.
 
^I don't think that's true at all, it's just like saying "Symphony no.5", it doesn't need a word to describe the song, the song describes itself.

It's like any other kind of Art, except in music we're going backwarRAB. It's like when Bacon names his painting "Painting".

There's always something pretentious in titles, when the work of art doesn't include any worRAB. How can anyone describe something abstract?
 
I hate the whole deal with genre, whether it's organising your collection or just trying to classify a track/band. The only time a genre label is useful is to tell you to turn left or right when entering a music store.

Check out the 'favourite metal' thread. People argueing (politely) about who comes under which category.

Also, when a band is placed into a certain genre and then releases an album that doesnt fit within that then people moan. London Calling is probably the best example of this. 'I hate London Calling, it's crap, it's not even punk.'
