what is the best website to buy movies off.

give your thoughts and experiences of buyin off them. ever had any trouble or anything. are the new & used dvd's the same quality as the ones straight from them.

I use both, Amazon is faster delivery tho and I find their customer service team is excellent, quick replies usually.

Play.com for cheapness, ordered a game on the 1st of April and it still hasn't been dispatched so not happy, and can't find an email address for them

Oh, and remember to use NectarEstores to earn nectar points from both.

I use Play.com for most things, however I'm finding that choicesdirect are just as cheap (sometimes cheaper). Cant fault the service of either.

With my last order from Amazon (pre Christmas - so maybe they were busier than normal) the order was placed around the 14th Dec but with items "dispatched with 2-3 days" they didnt arrive until the 23rd... cutting it a bit fine to get them delivered for Chrimbo. However, Ive found their returns policy for faulty gooRAB excellent. It was the complete Sex and the City box set that was bought for someone and one of the discs were faulty. Every other online retailer that Ive had to return faulty gooRAB to have wanted the faulty discs back before sending a replacement. Amazon had a replacement delivered before I'd even posted the faulty one. (For those who think this may be a way of getting 'free' DVRAB - they charge you again if you dont return the faulty one!). They then refund the cost of postage to you when they receive the item. I thought this was excellent service - but still prefer the prices and speed of Play.com.

Play.com for me as well. Great service. Very reliable - and most times they send you the latest releases a few days earlier than the official release date.

I got the new Harry Potter dvd on Friday, instead of having to wait to buy it at a much more expensive price in the shops today. :D

Play is better. Amazon was good but it's gone downhill recently. None of my last 3 orders ever turned up. I was refunded the money, but still, it's the inconvenience of it.

I since looked on a few sites and all have the same dvd but without the exta features. However l know a dvd with extras existed because l saw reviews on it! I don't know if that particular dvd was a limited edition or not?

UPDATE: I had a look at the Play web site and it has since removed the extras details!

Thanks, I managed to find an email address and sent them one so wonder if I will get a reply tomorrow. Never had to email them before, however this order seems a bit sloooow.

I use both, its worth checking for special offers since they tend to discount stuff at different times. Usually, first place I check is Play since the prices are good, service good and its free delivery but sometimes, just sometimes Amazon come up trumps.

I have to say Amazon is my choice. Great customer service, good pricing and fast shipping.
Besides I know someone who was made redundant from play.com in cost cutting and heard too many horror stories.

I use both a lot and with no big problems, got fed up with Amazon back along as they kept moving my dispatch date back for a box set and a paperback book so cancelled my order in the end and went with out.

I generally compare the two and go with the best offer when delivery is taken into account.

However Cd wow are also good and i have had no problems with them either.

Any of play, CD-WOW or Amazon. Amazon are best of anyone for books (best range by far), but for DVRAB, games and CRAB any of the above - just whoever is cheapest.

Play delivered Harry Potter (out today in the shops) on Saturday morning! :)

I've used both, but Amazon is always the first place i look when i need something offline, i know i can trust amazon and the variety is a lot bigger... i can get little known US titles that cant be got anywhere else. not even WH smith/HMV on order

Amazon

CDwow is best for the better known CD titles though!

I've used Play for about 3 years and never had a problem.

As was mentioned in a previous post, if you pre-order you usually get the item before the release date. Also the two times in this time things have got lost in the post I have called them up and they re-sent it the same day.

Having said that they have been so good I've never felt the need to use another service so can't comment on ayone else. You can sometimes get cheaper elsewhere but only a couple of quid and I'd rather pay more for the speed and reliability. Their international service is just as efficient in my experience

Just to balance it out a bit...

There have been a couple of occassions when I've ordered stuff off of play.com and they have sent me totally the wrong thing. I've emailed them to say this and you're supposed to receive a reply within 24 hrs. I never got anything. Both times I've had to phone them to arrange returning the item.

I'm a bit wary of ordering from them now. Yes, with amazon you have to pay for packaging but I just try to order a few things at once so as to get the free p+p. Amazon have always been very efficient and very reliable.
