Alright, this is fucking ridiculous v. BP and it's financial responsibility

The government has neither the resources or the expertise to deal with the leak on their own.

not only that then BP denies their claim when they say theyre getting sick..fishermen are not trained hazmat workers..

stopping drilling is stupid. increased inspections and triple checking to make 100% sure everything is correct is what should be going on.

Why did the government shut down the rigs? Why did the government shut down the rigs? Why did the government shut down the rigs? Why did the government shut down the rigs?

Oh yea, BP spilled 100+ million gallons of oil into the ocean around important waters.

I agree about the knee jerk reaction thing.....which seems to be what our Govt is good at....

Allow to keep skeleton crews out there to monitor their status and take corrective action if needed...but not produce a fucking drop until the thing is settled

LOL didnt know that....I thought BP did do too the rigs being shut down, on their own accord.

But your contention is that the Govt did, due to BP being ordered shut down...i understand now.

I forgot this Administration dont like agreements

And a bit of caution...there should be some sort of limits set up on daily operations.
If it's kicking x much stop doing it.
Slow down.
No substituting sea water for heavy mud.

That's not a reason to shut down others. They did nothing wrong and there is no evidence that they were doing anything wrong or were using faulty equipment or anything else.

It's stupid.

Much more stupidity and the US Government (aka the 52% of Americans who actually pay taxes) will be stuck cleaning up this mess because BP will be bankrupt.

It's not just BP rigs being shut, it's a bunch of deep water rigs from all companies. That is also separate from the 6 month moratorium on exploration and unlike the moratorium on exploration there is no set date to allow those rigs to continue operation, it's an open ended shutdown. That means that more than likely many of the companies that run those rigs will move and start operations in a different country meaning permanent lost jobs and higher dependence on foreign oil.

You do know this accident happened while they were shutting down the rig. Exactly what Obama has ordered 33 others to do.

And there's no solution that if something does go wrong they can fix those too.

That's part of the problem here. There was poor preventative planning. There still is poor preventative planning. So while maybe they're not doing anything wrong currently. The wrongs have already been made previously...to set up a position where there is no solution to any potential problem that arises from such blowouts.

Sure it is, I now see the logic here, and he's right!

We should apply it to other aspects.

One politician was found guilty of accepting bribes and was removed from office. We should remove ALL politicians from office, and shut down all government for 6 months until we can sort it all out.

I see the wisdom in his logic now.

Can't remember who said it but some financial dude predicted BP would be bankrupt within a month.

before you are allowed to assist in any of the clean up, regardless of who you are, you must be trained to the HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operator) standard. It is a 40 hour course and the level to which the fisherman have been required to be trained in before assisting in clean up qualifies them to clean up the crude oil.

Stop saying they're not trained hazmat workers because they are for this level of hazardous material.
