Alright, this is fucking ridiculous v. BP and it's financial responsibility

Proof that this assertion is true?

And, well this one may have blown when they were shutting it down. Is not proof.

The government is going to bankrupt BP eventually then WE will have to pay for the spill with tax dollars.

EDIT: nvm DE beat me to it.

ask kwame kilpatrick...how much oxygen did that scandal suck up in Detroit... your delusional if you dont think finding corruption/destruction on a massive scale would make the system stop and reboot so to speak..

okay...what do you think the outcry would be if just ONE other rig had a melt down and spill on the scale of this one say in september?

If training has been provided, which I know it has, then it falls to the worker to use that training effectively. If you don't want to wear a mask or your HEPA or NIOSH respirator then you deserve to have your claim denied when you come down with a respitory problem.

The only issue that may arise which I don't know is whether or not they have been provided with the appropriate gear to perform the job. If they have then unfortunately they're shit out of luck, if not then they have a case.

I don't know, what are the odds that it would happen twice in one summer, when there hasn't been a platform spill in US waters like this in 40 years?

What do you think the outcry would be if God showed up on the White House Lawn and he was a Hare Krishna?

All the other deepwater rigs need to be reviewed. It might be sort of dangerous drilling in a sea of oil.

BP owns more than one rig out there...do you think they skimped on just t that one rig?

The wall street direct cause is debatable considering something had to happen prior to the banks taking the hit or else nothing would have happened to the banks.

Yes, I've seen the news. Still don't know what horrific safety record you are referencing.

actually BP isn't being ordered to anything like that..YET.

thats on the table but it hasn't happened.

The federal government has an oil spill response plan. It was not implemented. BP seems to have had a couple plans which they tried early on.

Basically you are saying that the risks outweigh the benefits? That doesn't fit with BP being responsible for financial restitution to the other companies. It's also a path to nothing.

just as leasers of the rig they were responsible for the safety procedures there...why the fuck are you defending them??

BP has hired most of the fishermen and their boats to assist with the cleanup. From what I have been able to find, they are being paid more than they would make as fishermen.

The government should do everything in it's power to bankrupt BP. They are notorious for destroying the environment for short term profits.

Don't know, there is more than one Democrat and Republican who have been removed from office, do you think they all aren't on the take?

We could offset the need for sea drilling by reforming our electrical and transportation energy sources.

I dont think we'll find a better source of energy for air travel short of liquid hydrogen, but we know how dangerous that can be with current tech.

BP says workers were provided safety equipment. Some of the sick workers have said that either they were not provided gear or that BP threatened to fire them if they were seen using any type of safety equipment.

I don't know, do you? Did they cut corners due to the order of a guy on that one rig or was it BP corporate dictating to all it's platforms to cut corners?
