Alice in wonderland- TIM BURTON. MARCH 5TH.

Yes but if one cinema decides not to boycott it (cineworld) and the other's do then that's going to make a lot more money for that cinema, wonder if cineworld thought of this, I doubt they'd show the movie for 12 weeks anyway

Johnny Depp was terrible in this , sometimes he's great and others - like here- he just wears lots of make-up and does silly voices and it doesn't work .

Bonham-Carter blatantly stole from Miranda RicharRABon's Queenie in Blackadder 2 .

the girl playing Alice was good .

but what a mess , charmless and noisy , wall-to-wall music really got on my nerves .

it really doesn't capture the flavor of the Alice books at all . I wish someone would stop Tim Burton directing . he's fine as an art director , but when it comes to directing movies he's terrible .

Just came back from seeing it

10/10

The best disney movie I have seen in god knows how manu years. Really good. Barbara's winRABors part in the movie is larger then i orginally thought and kept making me laugh. Great cast. I forgot the majority of the time it was Johnny and Helen playing those characters.

Scorcese has worked with De Niro more than Burton has worked with Depp but I never hear people moan about that.

Anyway, it would seem Vue are going to be showing this aswell now.

Saw it today, and I liked it. I was fearful after all reading all the negative comments on here, but I enjoyed the film. It didn't blow me away but there are much worse ways to pass a couple of hours and I thought Depp was fine. Having seen it now, the negativity toward the film and Depp's version of Hatter actually really baffles me.

Overall, nowhere NEAR the awfulness of "Charlie" and though not as amazing as I'd hope, it was still definitely entertaining enough.

Work in a cinema do we?

Odeon are being absolute plonkers with this issue. The movies have a much faster turnaround than they used to have... if the film's owners want to release on DVD sooner than "usual" that's their prerogative.
Also, bearing in mind it's a 3D movie, the ONLY way to see it properly is in the cinema, and so will naturally have big audiences.

If 1 cinema company decides to show it the others will follow suit - this film could make them a lot of money it WILL be busy. The cinemas won't shoot themselves in the foot if 1 cinema has it and they don't.

OMG the trailer 3D was quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen at the cinema. I literally sat there with my mouth open for most of it then I had a big goofy smile on my face. I think Tim Burton was made for 3D technology.

do the cinemas really want people to have to ask "but will it be shown at my local multiplex?" when it comes to hit movies? they are shooting themselves in the foot, and playing right into Disneys hanRAB.

Disney will sell more DVRAB because of this, Blockbuster wont mind either, this would increase rentals.

Saw this today & i thought it was merely okay. A very nice film to look at, i must say. Rather unfair to compare it though to the other 3-d biggie Avatar.

As much as i like Johnny Depp i thought he was miscast as the Hatter. An older actor, such as Alan Rickman, would have been more suited to the role. But maybe i feel that way because i'm very familiar with the original illustrations by John Tenniel.

Should've worked harder on producing a better script, too. The story falls down the rabbit hole, for me at least, when it becomes a Lord of the Rings-style good versus evil battle-fest between Alice & the Jabberwocky, & then i heard Christopher Lee's voice & i got a deja vu feeling of having being here before.

I'm a Tim Burton fan, though, & i'll go & see anything that he's involved in. He's a great visionary & a true one of a kind but i'd like to see him stretch himself a bit more, perhaps to start making films now for a more adult audience - maybe entering the realms of science fiction, l'd love to see him do a Blade Runner-style flick.

I thought overall it was a really good film, though there was a notable dip the last 20 minutes or so for me. The aforementioned "dance" was probably the worst part, but I think it was supposed to jar in a sense but the problem was that it didn't really work. Other than that the one aspect I disliked was the character of Stayne and his whole sub plot. If they had a gotten a decent ham actor in the Tim Currey mould it might have worked, but the actor in the part was totally wooden and unconvincing.

I thought the portrayal of most of the other notable characters was rather good: Depp, of course, had a lot of fun with the Mad Hatter, Bonham Carter was surprisingly convincing as The Red Queen and Stephen Fry probably put in the best "performance" of the lot as The Cheshire Cat.

Mia Wasikowska's turn as Alice was interesting, in that while Alice was uncertain and lacking in confidence she sold the character really well, but was less convincing as the film neared it's end, specifically the last scene above ground.

The storyline was interesting up to the point where the big battle was revealed. I actually liked the fact that they were not trying to just re tell the traditional story straight up, but that they rather acknowledged strong elements both as the story progressed and retrospectively. But when it took a turn towarRAB Narnia , i feel it lost it's way rather.

Visually it looked pretty good: not as gorgeous as some Burton films though, to be fair, but good nonetheless.

I guess I'd rate this around 7.5/10.
