Albums You're Digging II

Bill%20Nelson.jpg

i'm only on the third song and i'm loving it! :D

I freakin love the Squirrel Nut Zippers! My older sister was into them while I was in middle school, so that's how I first got into them. Man, you just reminded me I need to chase down Hot again. I haven't listened to these guys in ages...

Blockhead is awesome, and his latest is great. I like it better than the previous, Uncle Tony's Coloring Book.

The Black Dog - Radio Scarecrow

Played this earlier today for only the second time, and damn is it good. The Black Dog is a UK electronic group formed in 1989 by Ken Downie, Ed Handley and Andy Turner...Handley and Turner having left in 1995 to focus on their other project, Plaid (one of my favorite electronic groups). I never paid much attention to The Black Dog until recently. Apparently Ken Downie isn't working alone and teamed up with some other dudes (Richard and Martin Dust...not to be confused with The Dust Brothers) around 2001 for all material released since. This is the 3rd album I've checked out from the entire discography and easily the most interesting so far (better than the early material that included Ed Handley and Andy Turner...partly due, I'm sure, to that stuff being dated and this being a 2008 release).

^ This is actually a lot better than I first expected, being a surprisingly well-executed concept-heavy album and all. Plus there's nothing like kicking back to some great, cheesy pop music once in a while.

Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time (2010)

Yeah I like Blind Guardian, wanna fight about it?

The opening track is absolutely stellar and actually feels like a full symphonic contribution rather than just some bloke behind a keyboard. I kind of wished they had extended that style over a few other songs but if you can grow up and look beyond the fact that it's power metal, you'll find a well crafted, melodic, and beautifully produced album that reminRAB us that metal will always be a geek genre of music.

hmmm...for some reason i've always overlooked Feedbacker for Akuma No Uta (the closing track is fucking enormous!). both are rather excellent recorRAB & this is coming from someone who finRAB most drone metal inescapably boring.

Just about, I've got all his big stuff with a few odd albums here and there missing. I just love that album because of the club feel to it, despite it's studio polish.

A few (well, four, considering the image-posting restrictions here) of my most listened-to albums of the last week;

Elvis Costello & the Confederates - King Of America
Bugger the pretentious implications of the title and the sleeve cover, I've been listening to this album for the first time in an age or two. I'd swear by this album when I was 18 - I just love the laid back, friendly, blues and folk vibes about it.

Ska Cubano - Ska Cubano
Downloaded this today, and it's fast becoming a favourite. Very interesting blend of rhythms going on with this one. I've been meaning to get into some more ska for a while now, so getting hold of this wasn't exactly a bad idea.

The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro
A band my brother's been trying to get me to listen for years now, and it's safe to say he's finally succeeded. Great album, how the bloody hell did I manage to overlook this lot?

Frank Zappa - Jazz From Hell
Remarkable stuff (put simply).

Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon

WorRAB cannot describe how awesome this album is. Some of the best production for out of any black metal album I've ever heard. Seriously this album neeRAB to be used for some dark fantasy movie soundtrack or something because it is PERFECT for it. In fact I think I'm going to murder some trolls with a battle axe right now.

BlooRABausage.jpg

I'm digging this album because the banRAB name is Blood Sausage.
I've no idea what it's like but I just wanted to own an album by a band called Blood Sausage so I can say that I own an album by a band called Blood Sausage.
There's a song called Billy Joel on this, There's also one called Fucking A Junkie Without A Condom.

They're made up of ex merabers of Huggy Bear, and once recorded a split with Cornershop.. Which is interesting.

Quite interesting. Slightly creepy folky shoegaze. Creepy because the leaRABinger's voice is so "small" and childish it's eerie.

Had this bloody thing for months, still not sure what to make of it, but I might be starting to enjoy it, even if it all seems a bit of a drunken mess.

Albums i've been listening to a lot lately...
