Albums You're Digging II

destroy.jpg

The Pain Teens are a female fronted 90s noiserock band. This is my favorite album in their discog. Its hard and interesting with moments of vulnerability and absolutely brilliant lyrics.
There's also an ode to the abortion pill.

yeah Ozzy seems a bit off key occasionally but I'd still sacrifice a non-essential body part to have been there stoned :D
If anyone is short on classic Sabbath (Clabbath? nah) PM me

lucifersam - I am down with Sketches of Spain also but I prefer the Miles Smiles thru to On the Corner era. And Birth of the Cool!

edit: bit of trivia - Frank Zappa named 'Supernaut' the greatest rock track of all time
'Zappa said in an interview, "I like it because I think it's prototypical of a certain musical style, and I think it's well done. Also, I happen to like the guitar lick that's being played in the background".'

Isn't that nice?

Their best album for sure. The cover of "Astronomy Domine" rocks.

I don't know about it being her very best album. I found Rid of Me, Dry, and To Bring You My Love to all be better albums.

I need to check this out! ;)

I believe this came out in 2000, actually. I haven't heard it though.

I discovered this album about 8 or so years ago, and whenever I pick it back up to give it a listen it turns into a marathon run. "How I Do" is the only album Res ever released, which is unfortunate because she has a great voice and her music has a little something that sets it apart from most R&B/soul albums. Her voice can be sultry, sweet, or a little rough, but it always pulls me into the songs and keeps me hooked. Pretty much one of my top albums.

The American Gangster Soundtrack.

Laugh at me, call me names, all that. But, and I usually hate soundtracks for being so scattered (Forrest Gump and such aside), but this thing I'm really digging. Old blues/r'n'b/soul nurabers corabine with Anthony Hamilton's new (I guess you'd call it r'n'b or neo-soul) track - Do Ya Feel Me?, with a few movie scores like 100 Percent Pure, Frank Lucas, Nicky Barnes, Club Jam... and the Bobby Womack song! Swear to God, after I watched the movie I went straight out and bought the soundtrack solely for Across 110th Street, played it on repeat for 3 hours. Whoever scored the movie would be great at making mixed CRAB for a living, like Rob from High Fidelity. Good ****.

Wow... Doves Kingdom of Rust is freaking awesome... sorry Coldplay, I love you guys still but although you sell more recorRAB than these guys, Doves still have the wood on you musically...

Aenema! I forgot how much I love this album to death.... absolutely love it!!! I'm thinking it will have to go to head of the class for Tool albums after tonight's listen...

Intriguer - Crowded House: I only found out this came out on Saturday, and I've only listeneed to it twice, but I can already tell is going to be a stayer in my collection... Neil Finn has lost none of his songwriting ability with age.... in fact it only improves with time like a fine wine... the band is in fine form and the songs have character substance and are gorgeously listen - worthy. It' a relatively short album, given the length of the previous releases, but its short, sweet and to the point, and I truly, truly dig it.

It may seem out of the box for me, but I am really enjoying Moby's "Wait for Me" lately, soothing, relaxing stuff it is... good for my mind when I have been putting it into overdrive all day. An album to unwind to, for sure...

Whole album! I still remeraber the day I first heard this. I was like 17 or 18 and working at McDonald's in suburban Houston. FrienRAB and I were hanging out in the parking lot, when this new employee from Brooklyn comes over and is playing some Nas, I think he had a boom box, no joke. We were all blown away by this album, and I've since considered it one of my favorite rap albums. The extent of my rap/hip-hop knowledge/appreciation at the time consisted of Cypress Hill, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde and the like.

I checked out samples of The Empyrean and yeah it's definitely not like LITE, but it did sound pretty good. Some of the vocals in the clips I didn't care for, but I got the impression that it was a really well-written album. I may check it out eventually. And I have heard of the band Ataxia, in fact I put an album on my "to look into" list a while back, just haven't checked it out yet.

This may be a little too heavy for what you are looking for but I love this album (memories of the future):

Again a little Bass heavy but 2562 are really good too:

Bat For Lashes - Two Suns

I had seen Bat For Lashes mentioned occasionally around here and finally checked her out. Gorgeous album...it is exactly what I was looking for last night. I was getting a bit stressed out and it was starting to get overwhelming right when "Peace of Mind" played. Man, I needed that. I have such a huge crush on Natasha Kahn now.
