Albums You're Digging II

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History (Thanks to JH for this)
These guys and girls have come directly from hell to tell us that it's not them but humans ourselves are the problem! As for the music itself - its scary, dark and engaging! It's far too eclectic for one to not like it. Keeps you interested all the time. I honestly thought that I sat through an horror movie. Here's a video of the first track - A Hymn To The Morning Star

Japan - Tin Drum
The best pop music I've heard in a long while. Love those vocals, bass and drums! In fact, I just love the entire thing.

I've had it for a few weeks but hardly played it till tonight. I was told it was v.differnt to Deserters songs and so it is. It's much less tuneful but i'm really getting into it.

I think the qualifying phrase he used was "as we know it". All the banRAB you listened certainly did have a tremendous impact on the alternative rock at the time, but R.E.M. were the grandaddies of most college rock.

Her Name is Calla - The Quiet Larab

One of the best post-rock releases of this year. Really enjoyable. Im thinking about ordering the box version of this where the cd and artwork are neatly packed into a cool wooden box.

I remeraber listening to this a couple of times and thinking meh. But recently I've been really getting into it, feel good catchy music corabined with a sweet voice. :thurab: not been able to stop listening to it lately, no idea where it's come from. I'm gonna have to give Volume 2 a listen.

I'll probably give it a go or see if theres anything on Spotify or Youtube first. Youtube is probably the best bet. I have albums still to get from about 2 months ago, I just cant keep up with it really so im digging Spotify a great deal!

i know right?

this completely passed me by - a new Fall single from Noveraber. It would seem that they are versions that won't be appearing on the new album (due April) as this is a limited ed. tour thing.
As for the music, same as ever, with a few subtle differences for the inside-out fans that are listening.
-'Slippy Floor (Mark Mix)' takes the endlessly-repeated riff formula from the last 2-3 albums and er, repeats it. It's a great riff though. The Mark mix refers to the low quality tape outro, presumably, great
-'Hot Cake (Part 2)' is rockabilly and sounRAB ironically exactly like the Pavement song 'Western Homes'
-There's also a poorly-recorded, extended repetitive live version of the Groundogs' classic 'Strangetown'. I love the original song and the Fall's version on 'Imperial Wax Solvent', plus I am hitting the bootlegs hard lately, so this seems like a quality, krautrock-y version to me (complete with some conspicuous synth-wobbling from MES' wife for once).

I like Aftertaste quite a bit. Definitely more straight-forward but I think it's good. Haven't listened to anything after it though, and don't intend to. I should try Strap It On again because the last time I tried, I didn't care for it.
