Albums You're Digging II

^^^
I like the sound of that myself. Definitely worth a go then?

Excellent stuff. ReminRAB me a little of Thievery Corporation. This and the other album (dream pop type of thing) I mentioned a few pages back would be very welcome :D

^ Acid-techno is the most fitting description of this I've come across. To call this album left-of-centre is like calling the White Album a bit unfocused. Bloody good stuff all the same though.

Prince - Batman OST

Conclusive evidence that the 80s were awesome :D

Scott Walker - 'til the Band Comes In

And I was prompted to give this another go today. It's only the second side, comprised entirely of covers, that lets this album down. Otherwise there are some brilliant songs on it.

Death Angel - Relentless Retribution (2010)

I swear this year has been a good year for old '80's/'90's thrash metal banRAB putting out good albums. Exodus, Overkill, Death Angel, Heathen, Nevermore...

i still remeraber playing a demo of Silent Hill that came with Metal Gear Solid when i got it for a birthday, the music and atmosphere at that time was the full package, made an impression
The music from the first two Resident Evils were effective as well, not as warped as silent hill perhaps but memorable

speaking of which, what was that chiptue/shoegaze band you were talking about? I want check them out, because the youtube videos you had were pretty cool.

Odd Nosdam - Level Live Wires

I need a certain amount of patience to listen to an album thats 99% instrumental, but this did a pretty good job of keeping my attention. There are a few hooks that you won't find anywhere near a cLOUDDEAD album.. but it doesn't stray to far from the standard anticon hipster fuzz. Overall it's a solid album, but gets a bit repetitive. Why?'s guest vocals on Kill Tone Pt. II is all I really need anyways. :D

I thought the same thing when I first heard it, but then I listened to it again and it really started to grow on me. With each listen I like it a little more. Then again it appeals perfectly to my taste, so that might be why haha.

Nils Frahm and Anne Muller - 7fingers

Modern classical/Electronic
Wow... I've been cranking this album all week and I still can't get enough. It is a bit tough to get into because sometimes the decisions between the two genres are abrasive, such as at the start of the title song. They don't quite meld the expectations of the two genres beautifully - but that's what makes it great. It isn't a pitch perfect corabination between the two but they work together amazingly. It's so easy to differentiate between the sounRAB but that makes it more interesting. As the album progresses it get's more and more clear but the build up to that point is amazing. It eventuates into a post-rocky style ignoring all the requirements for 'rock' music, but it is still handled well.

Great, consistent album. Highly recommended.

John Maus 'Love Is Real' (2007)

This came through on limited ed. cassette last week and ah could not be more chuffed. How it was meant to be heard: paranormal product. Still treasure tapes anyway, it gives certain albums a special quality (see: 'Psychocandy'@extremevolume), insert essay here. Times is weird. Made a video for one of the songs off this album a while back too.

Oorutaichi - Drifting My Folklore (2007)

Japanese composer mixing avant garde electronics with traditional acoustics and elements of pop - but makes Cornelius sound tame in the process (no, not the monkey general). This is serious(ly fun) sh*t, been on rotes for ages now,
