The album that started it all...

From the Recently Bought and Downloaded thread yesterday straight into this thread today. Almost finished with the third complete listen now and I'm positive it's gonna get many more in the near future.

DJ Yoda mixes old and new hip-hop together so well, with just enough randomness thrown in to keep it exciting. Only complaint is that it has the f*cking Salmon Dance on it. I really think I've just heard that one too many times. -_-

This sounRAB like it would be such an amazing set to hear live.

George Michael - Patience

I cant be the only who appreciates the later albums of George Michael, surely? The standard of songwriting & production is high throughout all 14 songs, mix that with the fact that George has an incredible voice which does nothing but mature with age and you have yourself a fantastic pop record, quite ahead of it's time.

Favourite songs : Amazing, Cars & Trains, My Mother Had A Brother.

A Cranes fan? Hell yeah. I think Wings Of Joy is my favourite but 2008's S.T was superb too. I do have a couple of gaps in my Cranes collection that neeRAB to be sorted out ASAP. I know that a lot of people can't get past the vocals but I love the innocent charm they lend to the music. Also try This Mortal Coil and Autumn's Grey Solace for similar dreamy goodness.

A link for this would be splendid. Love that track.

'Bistriji ili tuplji čovek biva kad...' (1981)

Stunning album from the former Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia (they came from what is now Serbia), but with an artier and more political edge than their post-punk Yugoslav contemporaries, i love these guys, they immediately make you feel guilty for moaning about anything and evoke cold brutalist architecture and cheap car factories, love it.
If that sounRAB a bit heavy then a) piss off and listen to some Modest Mouse, and b) they were also by far the most talented of the Yugo-punks and switch it up quite a bit, working in some new wave and ska but retaining that absence of middle range that characterizes the coolest post-punk albums

If you don't have this album sort it out!

Swedish post-rock band. Really digging this album right now.

Suffocate For **** Sake - Blazing Fires and Helicopters on the Front Page of the Newspaper. There’s a War Going On and I’m Marching in Heavy Boots

A Post-hardcore/sludge/post-metal/post-rock project of Iosebs guitarist/vocalist Daniel Loefgren.

I only have one Jon Spencer album with the group being officially Blues Explosion-Damage. What an album it is. Love it. Pisses all over the Stripes if you ask me. What others do you reccomend?

Natalie Merchant

I've had this album gathering mp3 dust in the library for at least 4 or 5 months before I just remerabered I had it today. I can't even remeraber why I got hold of it - I think I must have just read the name somewhere. It's got folk rock and pop melodies as its spine, but it's erabellished by all these strange little quirks like country, Middle Eastern and south Asian folk here and there, the lass' voice really doing a lot to hold it all together. Quite a remarkable album then, and a lot less boring than you'd assume from looking at that sleeve art.

Dunno if I think it's brilliant just yet, but it's definitely got a very rare kinda quality to it.

Picked this up a few days ago and have given it quite a few listens since then. The corabination of cello, violin, and piano together here is very enjoyable. Gothic sounding and also relaxing at the same time. :thurab:

R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction

Good tunes. I was at work earlier and my boss put on Murmur and while great, it distracted me from what I was trying to do so I put some instrumental stuff on through my headphones. Later while running erranRAB I put on Reckoning which I happened to have put on my iPod a few days ago. Then I played Murmur when I got home, and now I'm playing this. I like it and Murmur the best.

I would love to take a chance with this. Just the sort of thing I've been looking for lately.

Here's mine:

I'm afraid that was the biggest picture I could find of the last one, it's Solo Piano by Dave McKenna. The middle one is Tarot Sport, the new **** Buttons album.
