Albums You Hate By Bands You Love

Sorry, I meant, "Memory Motel" off Black and Blue, not "Far Away Eyes".

I love Beggars Banquet. "Stray Cat Blues" is one of my top 3 Stones songs.
 
Yeah but they pulled it off with Physical Graffiti. The songs weren't too radical a departure and they were genres that Zep already dabbled with in the past. Folk, Country, Funk, Eastern music. So it wasn't too drastic a change for them to expand on something they were already hinting at with previous albums. And they did their own take on those styles instead of trying to directly imitate them. I feel that's what they were doing with ITTOD.

but surely you can give it some slack since it was only their second full length and they were still basically teenagers. it did have some classics on there, so it is hard to say (for me, at least) that it is an album i hate. loud love, hanRAB all over, get on the snake, and hell i even enjoyed big durab sex.
 
I personally did'nt think that the debut was all that. Listenable for sure but I don't think i have played it in over 2 years. 'Empire' was even worse. the only saving grace was 'Stunt Man' which is a top notch track.
 
Empire sounded strangely (and worryingly) too much of a Gary Glitter compilation to men.

I like the debut as for what it was. nothing special but a lot better than the tripe similar banRAB produced then.
 
I think he can be a bit hit or miss from song to song (though mostly hit) but I've never heard an album by him that just flat out sucked from beginning to end until I heard Ten New Songs.

What the f*ck he's doing at 2: 46 I have no idea, but Chris's facial expression afterwarRAB is hilarious.

I might see them if they ever do a show in Memphis, as long as the tickets aren't overpriced, but I dunno, Steve, Chris and Alan are over a hundred at this point and they can't play songs like Roundabout with the energy they had when they were younger, they can still play though, but they need a new keyboardist because Rick's son kinda sucks.

As for the new guy, his singing isn't bad, but I dunno, his vocals are too clean and static and it doesn't sync with the band well at all, he sounRAB like a choir boy going through puberty. Jon sounRAB a lot more natural, he has the kinda voice that can sell even the most ridiculous lyrics with convincing emotional poignancy. This guy can't do that.

Also, as you can see, the guy is a total dork.
 
I feel like he still used it...only with added effects. They are a progressive band, it only makes sense that Cedric would be progressive with his instrument.
 
I actually love both SP and Dylan. The only Dylan albums I really don't care for are Desire, Infidels, Oh Mercy, World Gone Wrong, and Knocked Out Loaded (and even those have their moments).




I actually like GCW; it's an example of a flawed masterpiece to be sure, but it's very interesting. I'd rank it ahead of Almost Blue, King Of America, The Delivery Man, When I Was Cruel, and a few others.



But let's see...my picks:

Bruce Springsteen- The Rising, Devils & Dust, Magic; God, when will he realize that hiring Brendan O'Brien was the worst decision he ever made? Human Touch wasn't this bad.

Elvis Costello- North; Does this really need more explanation?

Buzzcocks- Trade Test Transmissions: Why???

The Who- Quadrophenia- Apart from 5:15, Love Reign O'er Me, and The Dirty Jobs, there's nothing here that's very interesting, which is a shame, because conceptually, it's miles ahead of any other Who album.
