Albums You Hate By Bands You Love

I've missed this thread.

A few good songs, but otherwise it's just a tad boring and uninspiring.

Beefheart tries to crack the mainstream, with hilarious results.

The lead-off single, Tuesday Morning, is one of my favourite ever songs. The rest of it's just terrible (Pachinko is probably the worst song they've ever written).

Not as bad as the other three I've mentioned, but the fact that this followed up the frankly brilliant Scott 4 puts it into perspective.

although bright eyes is amazing this album really didn't impress me, but it wasn't absolutely bad, it's just... well... the best song off the album is so boring, the album isn't bad if i'm in the mood for something "off"

Aggghhh!!! I HATE "Some Girls", I've given it ample chances too. It has probably the most atrocious Stones song of all time, "Shattered". Echh. The sad part is, everything afterwarRAB made "Some Girls" sound like "Exile" in comparison. I just really dont like any songs off it, while their mid-70's albums, despite being mediocre for the most part, all have at least one song I like.

I've always liked it better than 'Bossanova', it rocks harder, and has better melodies. Just don't expect anything near as good as 'Doolittle' or 'Rosa'.

I just find Bodysnatchers so incredibly dull. Faust Arp is ok, but several of the B Sides from In Rainbows are better. As for Videotape, I have an early version on my computer that has some more percussion and enRAB a bit different. I think it's much stronger than the album version. Word has it though that Videotape is Thom's favorite from IR, so that was probably locked in from the start. And Down is the New Up is fantastic.

-There are some really great moments(Crusher Destroyer, Workhorse, Trampled Under Hoof, O'le Nessie, Mother Puncher, Elephant Man), but the rest of it just sounRAB like a complete mess of noise and lacks direction. my least favorite album from them

i don't hate this cd, in fact i love it. this cd is great.....up to "Release the Kraken", that is. after that it goes WAY downhill

Odd that was my first year on my own which I'm assuming if you went to college right after high school we'd have been the same age, perhaps it's becoming some kind of new transition.

That's basically how I feel about:

Don't get me wrong, I still like Distortion, but it feels more like a silly noise experiment from Merritt rather than a serious, well thought out album.

Love the Velvet Underground and some of Lou ReeRAB solo stuff, but this was just a travesty. No, I don't care if it's a "milestone" in noise music, it was Lou in a recording studio unable to do anything because he was so stoned out of his mind on heroin.

I find that when he's not singing with 72354675 vocal effects on Bedlam, he sounRAB quite different vocally. I'm used to him hitting lower notes every once and a while, but as I listen to this album, it sounRAB like he's only singing high notes. Also, is seems as if this album is more vocally oriented, as the guitars and the rest of the instruments seem almost unimportant when Cedric's singing.

Apart from Before They Make Me Run (which is one of the Stones' all time best tracks), I don't see what the fuss is over that album.

Personally, I'll extend Brad's 1976 cutoff for the Stones to 1972. Exile was their last stand for me.
