Albums You Hate By Bands You Love

Interestingly enough, I went to Moving Pictures on Spotify just before I read that! It's a sign. I doubt I'll ever really like a prog rock band, but I'll definitely give Rush a chance.

I definitely don't hate their album but it's not their best. Which one's did you actually like compared to this one?

For me, one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had to deal with was the release of:

How could a band who started off full of enjoyable folk-punk rage turn into such horrible poppy arena rock?

ive never heard master of puppets but ride the lighting is **** except for "as the bell tolls" or something and i dont actually think their s/t is toobad they just havent done anything thats really impressed me

'Rather Ripped' is brilliant you plum! ;)

They really had their pop hooks going on there. Their best LP of those since 'A Thousand Leaves' I would say....roughly. 'Murray Street' was a bit great too.

'NYC Ghosts And Flowers' I should have put in this here category. Frankly unlistenable.

Led Zeppelin

-In Through the Out Door and Coda

I hated both albums. They were boring and far from anything else Zep put out. A real let down and no memories from either album besides being horrible to listen to.

You should probably listen to it before you make claims like that. And Ride The Lightning absolutely shits on 99% of other thrash albums. Fade to Black, The Call of Ktulu, and the aforementioned For Whom The Bells Toll are three of the most solid progressive metal tracks. I dunno what the hell you were listening to...

Gotcha, I've overplayed albums I love too. I guess The Mollusk is still great for me because I really didn't hear it till about 5 years ago. I could say Pure Guava and Chocolate and Cheese were overplayed by me during my "lifted" days.

I feel like Physical Graffiti is much more like the White Album. Just look at the difference between Kashmir, Down By the Seaside, Bron Y Aur, Trampled Underfoot, The Rover, In My Time of Dying, etc.

Beggars Banquet is probably the most sound Rolling Stones album. It might not have all their wild hits but it's such a strong album. It doesn't deteriorate in the middle like Let It Bleed or Aftermath, and there are some genuinely infectious tunes on there. It opens with such clarity:

You're telling me Sympathy with the Devil doesn't have one of the catchiest basslines ever? And it's got some sweet backup vocals too...

I would rather (insert typical bad thing) than listen to Thing-Fish by Frank Zappa, and I really, really like Zappa.

I have the poster of him taking a **** on my wall.

I've determined I'm the only person who will ever list this as the best Pink Floyd album. The whole head-stuck-in-a-vacuum effect the album has is absolutely hypnotic, and the live disc is wonderful.

Also, I like Local H but Ham Fisted is a pretty boring album. The whole thing seems dull and poorly written compared to the stuff they'd later come out with. I'd even go as far as to say its one of the worst debut albums a grunge inspired radio friendly alt-rock band has ever released.
