Actors who's films you automatically avoid

Oi! (everyone says the person I fancy looks like him... yessss)

Kevin Spacey for me! I just CANNOT satnd him. You've got to be pretty insane to but Kate Bosworth in a film with you anyway.

I INDIVIDUALLY do my best to avoid these movies - with a few exceptions such as LOTR and Romeo and Juliet.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to avoid Titanic   , An Officer and a Gentleman, and Pretty Woman   ! If I only I had!

Silly? Why? As when you avoid a movie because you can't stand the films by that director, or a book because you can't stand books by that author?!

I don't think anyone here is avoiding movies because they think those actors are a$$holes in real life. I have no idea what Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant or Meg Ryan are like in real life, and I don't care if they have lovely personalities, or not. But I can't stand their movies and their movie personas. And with such big stars, you know that those are their movies!

Going back to Ben Affleck, I liked Changing Lanes. Though thought it could have been much better with someone else in the Ben Affleck role. I used to try to stay clear of Julia Roberts, but found myself enjoying Erin Brocovich. Something I wouldn't have given a second thought to usually, but my better half wanted to watch it. Talking of which that's how I ended up seeing Bridget Jones' Diary, and Renee Zellwegger made my flesh crawl in that . You can add Richard Gere to the list.

One thing I was wondering, is do you try to avoid a film if the actor/actress is just doing voice over work. I don't particularly care for Billy Crystal in films - but I liked him in Monsters Inc.

Actors I avoid:

Tom Cruise (I cannot stand him)
Nicole Kidman (I watched about 5 mins of Moulin Rouge and realised my earlier decision about avoiding her was a right one)
Jennifer Lopez (why they think she can act I will never know)
Jude Law (there is something about him that puts me off watching his films)

Indeed - I probably avoid all those which most people have mentioned:-

Julia Roberts
Jim Carey (although his latest film - Lemony Snicket looks reasonable)
Steven Segal
Kevin Costner
Diane Keaton
Rutger Hauer
Jean Claude Van Damne

RegarRAB,

Eddie Murphy - Beverly Hills Cop was great, but anything after is just awful (don't even get me started on Nutty Professor)

Tobey Maguire - his voice makes me want to slash my wrists, totally ruined Spiderman

Jim Carey - Truman Show was ok and I've heard Eternal Sunshine is good but films like Dumb and Dumber drive me nuts
