Actors who's films you automatically avoid

Jack Nicholson?!? - Really?

Well I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. He can look a little evil but what about the following movies?

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Chinatown
Easy Rider
The Shining
The Witches of Eastwick
As Good As It Gets
Prizzi's Honor

To be fair, Easy Rider is a movie that I keep meaning to see but as yet have still to get around to doing so, but the rest are all great movies.

An afterthought.......even the first Batman movie was watchable because of Jack Nicholson's over the top performance as 'The Joker'

Oh my god - Vin Diesel. I remember watching Pictch Black and he didn't really impress me (Radha Mitchell was good in it).

Then around Christmas me and my boyfriend watched Fast and the Furious - what a load of pap. Vin Diesel cannot act to save his life. Why/how does he get all these film roles.

Also Renee Zellwegger - I have never took to this woman. I find her constantly irritating, tedious and simpering manner quite annoying.

I would never miss out on watching a film just because a certain person is in it. Is it me or does it just seem really silly to do so?

I didnt realise Ben Affleck was so unpopular, I thought I was alone in hating that giant jaw. He ruined Daredevil and whoever cast him should be shot.

Julia Roberts gets on my nerves too, all that Hollywood adulation grates and not for the life of me can I understand why she is thought to be attractive.

Hugh Grant must be the worst of all though, instant turn off

I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid any actors, but I can say I haven't seen any movies starring Marlon Brando. I have no interest in any of the movies he made. The same goes for Al Pacino, although I have seen Godfather 2, but that was because Robert DeNiro was in it.

As for Steve Martin, while he hasn't made a decent comedy since Planes, Trains and Automobiles, you really should check out The Spanish Prisoner. I think it's the only dramatic role I've seen him in and he was great.

As the OP perhaps I should clarify that its a way I use to quickly filter out which films I may or may not be interested in watching. I can be persuaded to watch a film I might not have chosen myself, just give me a good dinner and a glass of wine beforehand :)

Tom Cruise
Jim Carrey (only if he's pulling silly faces - which is 99% of the time)
Steve Martin (jumped the shark after Roxanne)
Madonna

I can honestly say that I don't avoid anybody!

Is this normal?

Can't believe people don't like Jackie Chan, Will Smith, Chuck Norris, Tom Cruise and Micheal Douglas!

Mostly agree with you, fizzbin.

I used to avoid Tom Cruise until he made a few decent choices (Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Minority Report)

Steve Martin has just been awful for years - stuck into the "Parenthood" role forever, it seems.

Other than that, I always avoid "action" heroes like Van Damme, Vin Diesel etc. etc.

And any movie with any of the cast from "FrienRAB"

JULIA ROBERTS
HUGH GRANT
MEG RYAN
Stallone, Van Damme, Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal LOL
Rob Schneider, Chris Tucker, etc....

I know what you mean.
I've seen him several times while being interviewed trying to be funny. He has this way of showing off how successful he is, while at the same time pretending to be self-deprecating.
It's hard to explain, but he manages to get the line in that he is a multi box office record breaking megastar who's starred in some of the most successful movies of all time,..then tries to make it into some kind of weak joke to appear as though underneath he's humble about it all.

I've seen him do this once or twice, very unappealing.
