If Marion Cotillard gets the Oscar the 80th Academy awards anniversary will be the greatest for me !
Julie Christie is great in her part but whoever has seen "La vie en rose" has seen the most incredible and outstanding performance of the year in Marion's one !
So we'll see who will reach the goal ! Fingers crossed for Marion for me !
If she gets it she will also be the 1st French actress in a French movie to do so and she would enter in movies history !

Sad Ruby Dee didn't win. :(

But I'm glad Diablo Cody won.

This year was kinda just blah for me.

 She was so freakin' adorable!

I loved her speech! :sigh:

“Thank you life! Thank you love! It is true there are some angels in this city. Thank you! Thank you so much!”

Paul Dano looked so cute while wearing glasses!

I am so glad that Marion won even thoguh I have not seen the film. I have just a spot for new faces winning awards. Her speech was very sincere and I love how Forest Whitaker bear-hugged her. Also, now that Marion won, I bet that her new film with Mann, Johnny Depp and Bale will get a lot of buzz! (YEAH!) She's just sooo adorable! She kind of looks like Rose McGowan too.

Also, that short clip of Forest Whitaker's Oscar speech last year still managed to make me cry. . . :)

And DDL looks good too. :sigh:

Hmm. Nothing that is making me jump up and down with happiness or making me say "are you kidding". No big surprises really. And I don't know that there are any huge upsets although of course there were movies/actors overlooked as normal.

I'm happy for Viggo getting a nom! Same for Casey Affleck and Amy Ryan.

I love Cate but a nom for Elizabeth. Really? I see the nom for the Dylan movie but not for that one. Took a spot I would rather have seen someone else have. Same for Phillip Seymour Hoffman in his category.

This year's race seems pretty predictable to me as far as who will win.

I was a bit surprised to see Burton overlooked as I thought he would get a nom.

Thought we might see noms for James McAvoy (Atonement) and Keri Russell (Waitress), so that was disappointing.

I think Benicio Del Toro getting overlooked for Things We Lost in the Fire is a big jip. One of the best performances I saw last year although not many people saw the movie. Halle Berry was great too. Painful movie to watch but I thought it was beautifully done and Benicio really stood out.

There are still movies that were nominated I need to see, so I'll have to get on that in the next few weeks.

I have to agree.

I found his performance of Eli more chilling than Javier's performance of Anton.

plus i didnt believe Javier's and he was sometimes OTT

I'm with you on Marion's win being the highlight. Her speech was so genuine. I was expecting Julie Christie to take it, since she was the one Marion's been duking it out with for the awards, and since it was taking awhile for the name to be said, but when her name was called, I jumped and cheered.

YAy for Falling Slowly!!! Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are geniuses!

And I'm happy they brought her back out to say thanks.

they give the presenters 5 minutes and the winners 10 seconds !!!

come one its long anyway, let them have their moment.

IM SO HAPPY FOR Marion Cotillard !!!!

Falling Slowly :in_love:

100,000% agree! Paul Dano gave one of the best performances of the year and he wasn't acknowledged at all :no;

Sometimes there's a definitive performance that genuinely deserves the Oscar, but makes it boring because you know they will win.

That's the case this year with both the Best Actor and the Best Supporting Actor categories. What's exciting in a sense is, that neither are Americans. So it shows that Hollywood benefits from the universality of movies and the brilliant talent that lies elsewhere other than Hollywood.

Wow, that's a lot of No. I'm surprised, but mostly because I do care, I care a lot! But I understand the Oscars have been losing popularity for a while now. Still, that's a lot of No. Heh.

First Oscar has been given away to the to Elizabeth: The Golden Age for Fashion Design.

I love Jon Stewart's monologue! :D I love the Norbit joke. :D I was confused by the Dennis Hopper one.

I'm happy that Atonement got a whole bunch of nominations but why were Keira and James snubbed? Every year, the Oscars disappoint me and this year, seems to be no different. Except if Atonement doesn't win Best Picture.

So happy that Marion Cotillard won, I think she trusly deserved it. I'll need to try and find her speech somewhere. If it's anything like her BAFTA acceptance one then she'll be adorable.

Am also happy that Tilda Swinton won, another deserving winner, and I'm happy with any British success at a big awards show.
