My views? Everything I've said in regards to gun control generally has been prefaced with 'if,' outside of a comment regarding rabroad
her countries which Emfuser refuted. Once he did that, I stated that I would research the topic further for data and haven't used it since.
The personal views I can remember posting in this thread have been limited to the following:
1) Instead of focusing on gun control and restriction of the 2nd ammendment, time should be focused on the black market or the obtaining of guns illegally. I feel this would be a much more pragmatic response to gun violence.
2) I support the legal ownership of firearms, having grown up with and used them.
3) I agree that generally speaking, those who commit gun-related crimes obtain their guns through illegal manner.
4) The 2nd Ammendment is obvious.
5) The rational argument comes down to the difference between liberty and safety.
I feel that we have mostly been discussing the last point- that banning guns doesn't lead to safety. I am perfectly prepared to agree to this after reading data for myself later on this evening. But I have never said that I agree with a 100% ban on guns if it can't be shown to be an effective means of increasing overall safety.
I'm sorry if you have taken my meaning to be a support for the banning of guns or overall increased gun control. It is likely that if you took it this way it is a failure of my ability to express myself.
