200 greatest guitarists in rock

As a non-guitar player or indeed a non-musician in any way shape or form "Minor Pentatonic Scale" means jack **** to me.

The link that you have provided with the wobbly camera is not the way to impress someone.

I like John Petrucci as a guitarist but to say that both Hendrix and Page are of limited ability and sloppy players live, infers that you see them as inferior guitar players.

Watching either Hendrix, Page or Blackmore etc play the guitar, is I imagine for most people, the reason why they want to learn the instrument in the first place and form a band, along with a huge desire to listen to their music as often as possible.

Im sorry but I feel you contradicted yourself a little there. I agree that to say Hendrix sucked, ie to completely disregard any talent the man had on any level is crazy and whereas Hendrix may have been in a completely different league to Hammet I think the same applies.

Dimebag Darrell is/was the best guitarist there is...thats gonna keep me amused for the next few days

Well its certainly a Boo boo list but its not bad. The only thing I find overtly suspicious (and this would depend on your criteria) is that 2 of three banRAB guitarists were next to each other on the list.

Other than that its not so bad, although I don't know what you have against Rolling Stone.

sry bout that. i was in a sarcastic mood. people around me that day were pissing me off. had to get it out somehow.

in otherworRAB: he was ridiculously innovative in technique and phrasing.
and songwriting many would argue.
theres a reason jimi is satch's hero

Hey you forgot the Michael's :p:

Michael Karoli
Michael Romeo

I would include Greg Howe & Manuel Gottsching as well.(Gottsching is really underrated)
But i guess that would be a Demonoid's list then.

And tell me, why should I change what i have to say to suit you?
I just type what I have to say, whether it pleases you or not.
I typed what I felt was enough & I didnt realise the whole list had been quoted until the end so I deleted a bit of it.

The reason I seperate them into paragraphs was because a certain individual (s) complained in the past about me typing it all together in one big 'wall of text' as they put it.
So I try to make it easier to read.

I know quite a few highly skilled guitarists who are unknown, I guess there will never be an ULTIMATE list of best/most skilled guitarists since not all the guitarists in the world are known.

But I like the list you've done. Nice work.

me and my frienRAB dad had a great argument over who could outplay eachother (hendrix vs stevie ray).
i sided on hendrix, anyone else have an opinion here?

Neil Young not in top 20! Blasphemy

I don't know any other guitarist who can play 10 C notes in a row and still make it sound awesome :)

I personally love Cobain and grunge in particular for what it did for guitars. It wasn't the least bit innovative or groundbreaking, but they showed that you could write great songs without having wankery-laden solos and what not, and just coming off of the 80s metal movement, that was huge.
