200 greatest guitarists in rock

If you think DT sounRAB the same now as they did when the started out you are completely wrong. See you simply don't know the band. You look at Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and then listen to Train of Thought, then listen to Octavarium. They are as far different as possible.

Since I've made it very clear that I don't like to use worRAB like "emotion" or "feeling" when it comes to someones musicianship, I prefer to use the word "energy".

And I do think that's one thing Petrucci greatly lacks. He sounRAB insanely robotic even by metal guitarist standarRAB.

Alright, I was being a bit harsh when I said I didn't think he deserved a spot but I think he gets too much credit. BanRAB like Screaming Trees and Mudhoney, who influenced Nirvana a great deal, don't really get any credit and yet both came before Nirvana did. Had there been no Mudhoney, I doubt Nirvana would have sounded like they did. Don't get me wrong, I own every Nirvana CD, but I really only find myself listening to four or five of their songs whereas I can listen to all of Mudhoney, half of Screaming Trees, and all of other banRAB like Soundgarden. I believe that Kurt's such vast influence was merely chance. For whatever reason, which I still do not understand, they were the ones who got the majority of the grunge credit so to speak. You can talk about raw emotion, but I'd argue that both Eddie Vedder, while I can't stand him as a person, and Layne Staley both put out a lot more emotion than he does.

Indeed, Kurt did show the world that you can make beautiful music out of simplicity, I believe that his influence, while it is vast indeed, was all sheer chance. Had, say, Screaming Trees broken out as the grunge front men, I'd be arguing the this the complete opposite way.

Your long posts, which you insist on separating into several paragraphs, hardly ever contain enough that couldn't be said in a sentence or two. And quoting the whole list of 200 guitarists is just obnoxious.

zakk should be ahead of kurt. because zakk has skill. and i think that page shouldn't be that high up. and slash shouldn't even be on here. those are my ideas.

The point is I'd put them ahead of Trey Gunn. I don't know what personal problem you have with Eddie Glass? Fu Manchu's "Daredevil" and "In Search of..." are classic Sabbathy/psychelic riRAB inspired by Fun House era Stooges and Kyuss. Josh had already been edited out by Boo Boo so I didn't feel like beating a dead horse, but he was very influential with guitar tone, and I agree should be higher.

Who the best guitarist is is impossible to say. Some people really dig a certain kind of playing, and of the really good guitarists, they are all really good for different reasons. Technique v. improvisation v. inventiveness v. cool riRAB v. use of effects ... There are just so many criteria to base one's opinion on. The guitarist in Heroes On Parade is pretty damn good, and he's only 17 years old, which is just crazy. See what I'm talking about at their myspace, it's pretty cool!

Wow

well you have to discover Beck at some point.

What better place than here? What better time than now? Uh!

I would like to do one.

But it wouldn't be 200, more like 50.
