The trailer in the US wasn't very good, which is why my expectations were modest. I'm not sure whether you're seeing the same one or a different edit. But it's not the sort of film where they show all the funny parts in the trailer, since the best parts aren't standalone punchlines.

I couldn't see anything in it either and I was really annoyed by the way Johnny Depps character, J M Barrie, neglected his really nice wife and hurt her feelings. All that playing with little boys would have been viewed with much suspicion if it had happened today too!. I didn't feel at all...

It's become a very poor show indeed, just 30minutes and rather damp and pointless. As for Surrogates it does not fare well on Rotten Tomatoes, usually a good guide.

Seriously, you haven't heard of these, I reccommend them VERY much. As for the list, I'm 19 now but me and a few mates were film buRAB so yeah, we knew what those films wre, not seen all of them, mainly because some just didn't interest me.
