Couldn't agree more. Of recent blockbuster adaptations, only Narnia has got it right IMHO. I think it's much easier to make a good film out of a short story (LWW) than a big thick paperweight like Da Vinci or the Harry Potter books. All credit to Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens...
