Get at least a 20g..a 10g is may be too small if you want to increase the size of your community a 20/29g will allow you to to add a few more fish and plants as your hobby grows... And adding the fish over time is exactly right...

Are you using warm enough water...keeping the temp close to what your removing? ....But no don't remove the fish for a WC only to put them back in the original tank...that will for sure increase the stress...drop some aquarium salt or stress coat during the change.

A apple snail or a Columbian Ramshorn ...you don't have to worry about multiplying

Keep an eye on that baby gourami...they grow to be nippers. What about a few platies or guppies... But with the gourami the guppy could be in jeopardy.

It's the rams... You do know they are cichlids...although they are less aggressive than other cichlids...they are not the social butterfly I keep mine with other "slightly bully" fish---angles and kribs, I've never tried to keep them with Tetras
