You can do the 3 finger salute. This is always the last ditch attempt and it usually works just about every time. Just keep trying it if it doesn't work on the first attempt. It often takes a few tries. Search the forum cause i forget which 3 buttons are needed for the 5800 three finger salute...

I don't understand why it's not out either since I'd love to get my hands on one, but what I can say is that the 3GS is a fantastic phone....I upgraded from the 3G and it was so worth the upgrade just for the added speed. It makes reading web pages and doing tasks so much better.
