Character comparision: Angelica and Vicky

How similar are Angelica (Rugrats), and Vicky (Fairly Odd Parents)? I consider Vicky sort of like Angelica's heir, to the role Angelica played in Nicktoons. (I am only talking about the Rugrats Angelica, not the older version on All Grown Up)

They both pick on kids younger and smaller than them. They both when they have too, can act sweat and nice around adults. Though Vicky is more willing to show more adults (including her own parents) the real Vicky than Angelica. The protagonist cringe when they hear the news that they are coming. And when the world is turned into a fantasy world (on Rugrats just in all of the kids imagination), they are cast as the villain.

They both are intellgence, Angelica user her intellengence more towards the babies. Vicky has never successful used her intellegence to trick Timmy (I don't think she has ever tried, she is always been upfront to Timmy).

The differences are almost half the time, Angelica learns a lesson or even redems herself at the end of the episode. Except for maybe one or two episodes, Vicky never learns a lesson, redems herself, or show any remourse.

They are two different types of characters. Angelica is a main character, sometimes the stories are told from her prospective, and she is 3D character.

Vicky on the other hand is strictly a villain character. She has played small parts in episodes in which she wasn't a villain (example the Mask Magain episode, when Timmy saved her from a moving train, or the episode when Timmy wished he was never wrong), but whenever Vicky played a big part in an episode, it was has a villain. Mostly one dimentional, sometimes we see another side of her, but that is so rare.

That Angelica isn't as bad as I thought. Also as seen in All Grown Up, while she is still no "Angel", she does mellow out. So yeah she is more of an actual human than Vicky.

Plus her parents passiveness towards her is more believable than Vicky's parents are towards her (as Charlotte and Drew will make some attempt to lay the law down).
 
Angelica was never suppose to be an all out evil character, who's sole reason for excisting is to antagonist the babies. In the first episode Tommy's First Birthday she was on the same side of Tommy and his friends. In other episode like Slumber Party and Graham Canyon she and Tommy bounded. And in later seasons, she bounded with the others as well. She redems herself quite a few times, like The Santa Experience for example.

Granted there are many episodes, in which Angelica is just a villain like Vicky. She does her normal bad things, she get punished for it in some way, either via fate, or actully punishment from the grownups, and that is it, no lesson learned, no redemption. But it is not rare or a surprise if she redems herself in an episode.

Back on topic, another thing Angelica and Vicky have in common, they both are very greedy. Angelica love of cookies is to her what money is to older people. And we know Vicky loves money, and that is her main purpose besides making people's lives messerable, is to earn money doing it.

I think if Angelica continued her path without learning any lessons or being punished for it, Vicky is a kind of person she could grow up becoming. If she was Scroge in a Chrismas Carol, the Ghost Of Chrismas Future, could show her being like Vicky, a feared greedy monster, who people fear, but no one likes.
 
I think that Vicky and Angelica are similar characters, Angelica was just more of a "watered down" version of Vicky. I think Angelica shows the friendlier part of her personality in a few episodes (^^the ones you mentioned^^) and Vicky really doesn't show that at all. Perhaps Angelica would turn into a Vicky if she wasn't punished for her actions, no doubt. But Angelica is definitely a better person than Vicky.
 
Another character I think you compare Angelica with, is Eric Cartman from South Park. They both are friends / enemies of the other main characters. But they were both spoiled by their parent(s), and get away with a lot from their parents, but at times their parents try to decepline, but ultimately go back to spoiling them.

Back to the topic at hand, I am sure the babies would be freaked by Vicky's comic book world alto ego the Baby Shredder.
 
While they have some things in common (including having similar-sounding shrill voices---to the point that upon first seeing FOP, I wondered if the person doing Vicky's voice was the one who was doing Angelica's), think Angelica's (and Cartman) a much more developed character... Vicky's just a one-dimensional foil/bully...

Still hates the "Vicky's parents are second-rate Wade Ducks" thing (esp. given it undermines the entire premise of that "Homewreckers" episode)
