I would go American with a truck. The F-150 of that era was a better truck and you can probably find them cheaper. Also MAKE SURE that it isn't rusting. That seems to be an issue with BOTH trucks. You live in Chicago so you're in the snow belt. Again MAKE SURE the frame isn't rusting.

Oh the Traverse would be a MUCH better vehicle than the Vue. I would also check out the GMC Acadia. They are cousins, but have minor differences(interior, exterior styling, etc.) to see if you like that better. I'd also check out the Ford Flex. You can get them loaded(nav, fridge, DVD, etc.)...

What do you mean suggestions? LR is not really known for their reliability so I'd be concerned with that. Anywho, check out Autoblog and see if you can find something you'd like. I'd also recommend checking out the Lincoln MKZ, Infiniti FX35, or the Acura MDX.
