will a stoplight detect a bicycle?

i'm thinking about riding a bike to work, but there are several stoplights along the way. will a bicycle trigger the light to turn green or will i just be jamming traffic. i would like to know with someone with a little experience, and not from someone who is guessing.

Generally no, a bike(and in most cases motorcycles) don't have enough metal to set off the timers.
