Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! Whats your favourite?

Zombies: Dawn of the Dead - the original 1978 UK theatrical release imo was the fantastic, which, IIRC, had some of the less believable zombie/biker scenes cut, especially the gut eating scene, which ever-so-slightly spoils an otherwise perfect movie.
The remake was OK, but not a patch on the original. Shaun of the Dead on the other hand was excellent!
Day of the Dead (1985) is also a great film until the silly & unbelievable death scene of Captain Rhodes at the end.
But the best is the original Night of the Living Dead.

I haven't seen Diary of the Dead yet.

I love I Walked With a Zombie (the 1943 version), but that film belongs in the earlier voodoo curse interpretation of the zombie genre.

BTW, 28 Days Later is not a zombie film. If we're going to include that then I would nominate Romero's The Crazies as being much better.

has to the oldens for me my mum and dad use to watch these late when we were in bed i sneaked down to watch them and boy did i have night mares and what made it worse was we lived near a graveyard and i remeber thinkg the dead will walk lol 28 days later was the scariset imo maybe because it was set in london and it could happen return of the living dead was great to loved how they put comedy in here i like when the woman strips lol and starts dancing on the graves does anyone have the video to that bit of the film?

1 - Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
2 - Day of the Dead
3 - Return of the Living Dead
4 - Night of the Living Dead (Remake)
5 - 28 Days Later (not strictly Zombies but still rocked)
6 - Evil Dead
7 - Braindead
8 - Zombie Flesh Eaters
9 - Dawn of the Dead (Original)
10 - The Beyond

I am looking forward to the film adaptation of WWZ, I loved the book and read it in one sitting and have since re-read it more than once and listened to the Audio Book, if it's done right it will be the best Zombie Film ever.

Dawn of the Dead (1978) without a doubt. I don't know if it was ever intended to be a satire on consumerism but the idea of the undead mindlessly going to the shopping mall was inspired. It's scary, gory and funny in equal parts. And like many good horror movies (Alien, The Thing etc.) it works well when the protagonists are effectively trapped in one location with no visible means of escape.

I'm having a mind block - whats the name of that film where a bunch of teens stay in a house in the wooRAB. They play a record backwarRAB and all sorts of unmentionables happen. There is a Zombie locked in the basement who is constantly taking the piss out of them through a trap door in the floor.

Is it Evil Dead?

I never rated the original Dawn of the Dead, didn't scare me at all. The original Day of the Dead was pretty scary though and I loved the Dawn remake. Land of the Dead was just funny and not scary at all, would like to see Diary to see if that's any good.

Shaun of the Dead is also fantastic but only in a funny way.
