You're going to hate this man

Why? He doesn't really write anything that isn't within spitting distance of being true. Stuff like Jem, Silverhawks and even Captain Planet just doesn't hold up all that well.

Did he say that goof troop spelled the end for the disney afternoon? What about Bonkers, Aladdin, and Gargoyles? IIRC they were part of that block, and premiered around the time goof troop was over.

I think the title of that article should have been something along the lines of "Cartoons that aren't as good as we remember them after watching them again 20 years later". Well, aside from Pokemon, which is still ongoing and is one of the easiest targets out there.

I actually try to avoid watching cartoons I watched when I was a kid, because I know they don't hold up to my current standards.
I actually encourage others to do the same.

I haven't had any problem watching those older cartoons. For instance, Smurfs, The Real Ghostbusters and Captain N for instance, they're no Gargoyles, DC Animated Universe or Futurama, but they're still harmless fun.

Also he doesn't have the balls to post his e-mail address so you can ask him what he thinks are the best ones, and then we can criticize them.

Didn't Gargoyles come after Goof Troop? That puts a lie to his arguments right there.

His big thing seems to be "gee, you guys sure were stupid for liking these as a kid" and lingers on how dated shows are or picks one series to diss a whole franchise (like the Scooby entry). About the only ones I agree with as far as being 'bad' are Silverhawks & Captain Planet, and even then, I see them both as potential-wasted series.

This guy just wanted to be snarky and prove how pretentiously smart as a kid he was. I hate when people do that.

How is Transformers any worse than "Generic 80s cartoon A"? There were lots of cartoons from that era that had the same problems, but less redeeming values.

The only thing redeeming about Transformers was it's toyline. The show itself is one of the sloppiest cartoons ever made, even for the 80's. There were tons of off colors, height confusion, weird edits, mixed voices, paper-thin plots, etc. The only cartoon that I think comes close to how sloppy the Transformers were was G.I. Joe and, guess what, they were animated by the same company (Sunbow).

This writer mentioned Transformers but not that trainwreck G. I. Joe? Goof Troop and not the extremely corny DuckTales(but I'll always have my memories.) And where are The Smurfs on here?

I don't hate this man. Outside of ignoring Gargoyles, most of his observations are spot-on. Honestly, people. None of the shows listed were much good. Terrible? No (in some cases), but I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who actually thinks those were high-quality shows.

What? You never agreed with me until now? So you like 4Kids, hate Pixar, think Cartoon Network is improving, have no interest in Avatar Season 3, kiss network executives' butts, watch everything on Toonami except Naruto, find Bleach original and creative, preferred the TV ending of EVA over the movie, consider the '70s the golden age of American animation, laugh more at Disney cartoons than WB ones, found Wolf's Rain genuinely moving, consider Adult Swim outside of the anime and Futurama to be a shining example of quality animation, and don't think kids can handle anything with an ounce of depth?

Not just AIDS, but also gang violence and religious/racial wars. There was one episode where the bad guys sold nuclear bombs to an arab and a jew, a catholic and a luthern, and a caucasion and an african.
