You're going to hate this man

As far as Goof Troop is concerned, here's what I hate: when anthropomorphics go too far. Goof's next door neighbor is a cat who has a pet cat. I can just barely accept Mickey having a pet dog and best-friend dog (Pluto and Goofy, although come to think of it, I guess they're both his best friends, or something). One of the reasons I like vintage Mickey is that he's not quite domesticated. He still has a little mouse identity. Stuff like Goof Troop crosses the line from cute to creepy. IMO.

Really? I've gotta know the title of this, to see if I can find anything about it. That's why I've always thought Captain Planet was wasted potential - they were willing to touch topics most would avoid on pain of death, but they did so in a not-very-satisfactory manner.

Obviously, you've never read any of the things I've written about Captain Planet. Although I do disagree with his assessment of Captain Planet as the most politically correct cartoon ever, but considering how few people have actually seen the Free Willy series, I guess it's understandable.

That's not cowardice; just good time management. An article like this isn't design to provoke a rational discussion. For every intelligent disagreement he gets, he'll get a hundred other e-mails along the lines of: "dude u suck transformers was teh gratest show evah and u r stupid 4 saying it isnt".

I haven't really watched any of the others much, but I find "Pokemon" to be an enjoyable, creative, and fun cartoon to this day. It does have a little character development, but as I say--not all shows need gobs and gobs of character development. Sometimes, escapist fun with a formula and a creative twist is highly enjoyable. Pokemon is a modern classic, bar none!

It seems you forgot about the existence of the Looney Tunes, Disney, Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Tex Avery, early UPA, early Hanna-Barbera, Tezuka, The Yellow Submarine, Ralph Bakshi, Lupin III, Gundam, Ghibli, Akira, etc.

Not a bad list, it should've just been labeled something along the lines of "Cartoons that don't hold up well over time" or "Cartoons not as good as you remembered."

I can't say I disagree with his choices, although I'm sure there are dozens of cartoons that many would consider bad no matter what age you watched them. I feel his Captain Planet argument is a little week, though. Didn't only 2 or 3 Captain Planet villains actually have powers? Sure, some of them were deformed, but he makes it seem like all the Earth's problems are caused by some type of fictional threat. Captain Planet made it pretty clear that these were real life threats.

I liked 13 Ghosts as well, it looked cooler than the other Scooby series. Wish they had some sort of last episode to wrap everything up.

Well if someone disregards a cartoon in such a fashion that's their own problem, I say. But I don't think it's so bad as long as you recognize it's nostalgia that draws you in. Ten years from now there will be college students remembering today's cartoons fondly. Cartoons, in essence, are supposed to be fun to watch. If age enhances the fun factor, so be it.

As for these cartoons themselves, I really think they're definitely not the worst ever made.

Transformers: Having the DVDs, I still enjoy them. Yes, that's nostalgia talking. No, it's not a great cartoon. But it is just fun to watch.
Silverhawks: Never saw it in its initial run. Watching reruns on IN2TV, it's fun to watch because of how ridiculous it is.
Pokemon: Nostalgia lets me get through the first season without screaming. Beyond that, yes, it does get very tedious. I find it almost painful to watch now.
13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo: I never liked Scooby as it is. 13 Ghosts was another spinoff that I avoided. But there are worse spinoffs out there.
Jem: Also never saw this one. It's funny because of how outdated it is, not terrible.
Goof Troop: Not Disney's best, but not their worst either. Fun to watch in small doses.
Captain Planet: This cartoon actually played a major role in building my political position. Still love it to this day, but also fun to laugh at the ridiculous parts (I could never figure out, as a child, Dr. Blight's problem. All the other villains had something to gain out of destroying the planet, be it money or thriving off of the pollution. But Blight was just evil with no real reason.)

Everyone has their varying opinions, of course. They may age well for some, but not for others. I always looks for an episode of a cartoon online before buying the DVD, just to make sure I can still enjoy it.

I happened to like Jem and Capt. Planet wasn't so bad either. I say in this case to each their own tastes. BTW I'm looking forward to getting Jem on DVD.:)

I don't hate the guy, but strongly disagree with him the cartoons he listed are far from the worse cartoons ever made and I thought Quack Pack was way worse then Goof Troop.

As for those who are saying that Gargoyles and the DCAU are superior to older cartoons I disagree because I personally find the DCAU to be very overrated and as for Gargoyles it was good but it wasn't that great.

They were about neck-and neck, I'd say. It's a toss-up which was one was worse. But I agree that there weren't any really good Disney Afternoon shows after Darkwing Duck. JMPO, though.

A statement like 'DCAU is overrated' is too general and can't be taken into serious consideration because there isn't just one single show called 'DCAU'. The DCAU spans across several shows from Batman: TAS to Justice League Unlimited, and each show had its' own set of artists, writers, rules and disciplines. Saying 'The DCAU was overrated' is like saying 'The Disney Afternoon was overrated' or 'The Nicktoons are overrated' or 'The Cartoon-Cartoons were overrated'. You have to specify which show(s) you mean.

Ya know what, either I got less sensitive, or that was the weakest Pokemon bash ever. Usually people tear it up to shreds.

Anyhoo, I found Wizard's Magazine's list of Worst Cartoons, I think this list is a little better:
  • Alvin and the Chipmunks
  • The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show
  • Life with Louie
  • The Osmonds
  • Alf
  • The Super Mario Bros. Super Show
  • Hammerman
  • Hulk hogan's Rock n' Wrestling
  • New Kids on the Block
  • Little Rosie

should have been more specific: I encourage non-cartoon fans to do the same.

Well I do think the DCAU is overrated from the stand point that people who are fans of the cartoons of the DCAU act like they are superior to older cartoons when they have flaws and aren't perfect either, but I will be more specific about the cartoons form the DCAU I think are overrated; Justice League I really tried to like but I just don't in fact I have found some episodes of Super Friends to be more enjoyable then Justice League, other DCAU shows I think are overrated are Teen Titans and Batman (even though I liked it).

That's all I have to say about it.

Also in my opinion Quack Pack was worse then Goof Troop. At least with Goof Troop I can watch episodes and enjoy them, while I can sit through a single epsiode of Quack Pack and enjoy it.

Here's their other:

10: Jabber Jaw
9: Turbo Teen
8: Drac Pack
7: Yo Yogi!
6: Chuck Norris And His Karate Kommandos
5: Avengers: United They Stand
4: The Godzilla Power Hour
3: Little Rosie
2: Life With Louie
1: Scooby-Doo

not really, he seems to have gotten everything accept Pokemon and transformers correct. Though I doubt this guy actually WATCHED any of these before, more of he just looked at a wiki and watched a random ep of each.

the made another one? huh. i wonder what they're new 100 best list is.
Having Scooby-Doo as #1 is wierd since their last 100 list had him as the 39th best cartoon ever.
